Frontier
A frontier is a political and geographical term referring to areas near or beyond a boundary. Australia The term "frontier" was frequently used in colonial Australia in the meaning of country that borders the unknown or uncivilised, the boundary, border country, the borders of civilisation, or as the land that forms the furthest extent of what was frequently termed "the inside" or "settled" districts. The "outside" was another term frequently used in colonial Australia, this term seemingly covered not only the frontier but the districts beyond. Settlers at the frontier thus frequently referred to themselves as "the outsiders" or "outside residents" and to the area in which they lived as "the outside districts". At times one might hear the "frontier" described as "the outside borders". First Encounters
''Frontier: First Encounters'' is a 1995 space trading and combat simulator video game developed by Frontier Developments and published by GameTek for DOS. The player pilots a spaceship through a universe pursuing trading, combat and other missions. ''First Encounters'' was the first game to use procedural texturing to generate the vegetation, snow and other features on the planet surfaces. Mountain ranges, cliffs and alien landscapes and visual effects all contributed to the atmosphere of the game. The third game in the ''Elite'' series, it is the direct sequel to '' Frontier: Elite II'', and was followed by ''Elite Dangerous'' in 2014. Dead Can Dance (album)
''Dead Can Dance'' is the eponymous debut studio album by Dead Can Dance, as released on 27 February 1984 on the 4AD label. The songs were mostly written before the band relocated from Australia to London in 1982. Recording and Production The album was recorded at Blackwing Studios in London. The musicians include Brendan Perry, Lisa Gerrard, Paul Erikson, James Pinker and Peter Ulrich. The instrumentation consisted of guitars, bass guitar and drums, with added percussion and the very distinct sound of the yangqin, as played by Gerrard. Initially scheduled for two weeks in the studio, the band eventually appealed to 4AD label head Ivo Watts-Russell for an additional week. Worthington Miner (November 13, 1900 – December 11, 1982) was an American film producer, screenwriter, actor and director. He was married to actress Frances Fuller, with whom he had three children, including producer/director Peter Miner. He was the paternal grandfather of actress Rachel Miner.
