Friars Senior Society Of The University Of Pennsylvania
The Friars Senior Society of the University of Pennsylvania, commonly nicknamed Friars, is the oldest undergraduate secret society at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1899, it recognizes student leaders who have made a significant contribution to the university in all areas of campus life. The organization remains the most active secret senior society at the university with over 2,000 alumni in the United States and 24 countries throughout the world. History First led by Daniel S. Keller Jr., Friars was created "to firmly establish uncompromising democracy in all class, college, and University activities." In the early years, when violent class contests existed between freshmen and sophomores, Friars served as marshals during these fights. James Finn Jr. (born December 9, 1976) is an American former professional football player who was a fullback in the National Football League (NFL). He player college football for the Penn Quakers and was selected by the Chicago Bears as the final pick of the 1999 NFL draft. David Montgomery (baseball)
David Paul Montgomery (June 26, 1946 – May 8, 2019) was an American businessman and baseball executive. He served as chairman, minority-owner, and president of the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball. Early life and education As a child growing up in Philadelphia, Montgomery attended Philadelphia Phillies games at Connie Mack Stadium. Before attending college, Montgomery worked as a paper delivery boy and a high school baseball coach. Jonah Meyerson
Jonah Meyerson (born September 20, 1991) is an American actor and television producer Early life and education Meyerson was born in New York City. He is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School, and the University of Pennsylvania as a member of the class of 2013. At UPenn, he was the head writer for and a cast member of Penn's Mask and Wig Club, the nation's oldest collegiate all-male musical comedy troupe. John William McCloskey (September 19, 1925 – June 1, 2017) was an American basketball player, coach and executive. He served as the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers and general manager of the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves. George William McClelland
George William McClelland (1880−1955) was an American educator, provost of the University of Pennsylvania from 1939 to 1944, and president of the University of Pennsylvania from 1944 to 1948. Biography McClelland received his bachelors, masters and Ph.D. all from the University of Pennsylvania in 1903, 1912 and 1916 respectively. He began his teaching career as an English instructor at City College of New York in 1903.
