Freehold Public Library
The Freehold Public Library the free public library of Borough of Freehold, New Jersey located at 28½ East Main Street. Serving a population of 11,797 residents and with a collection of approximately 26,000 volumes the library has a yearly circulation of circa 28,000 items. This municipal library is not a member of the Monmouth County Library system. The building is one of the remaining Carnegie-funded libraries in the state and is believed to be the only one with the name Carnegie Library engraved on its facade. Founding The King's Daughters, a charitable and social service organization of the Baptist Church, decided at the turn of the 20th century that the county seat of s Monmouth County should have a library. It opened on January 6, 1900, in the Lloyd Building at the corner of West Main and Throckmorton Street with a collection of 500 volumes, but was destroyed by fire in December 1901. The Belmar Public Library is the public library of Belmar, New Jersey located at 517 10th Avenue. The library circulates about 15,000 items annually from its collection of 32,000 volumes. The Jersey Shore town in 2010 had year-round population of about 6,000. The library is one of New Jersey's original thirty-six Carnegie libraries. Monmouth County Courthouse
The Monmouth County Courthouse is in Freehold, the county seat of Monmouth County, New Jersey. It was designed by James W. Mancusa and built in 1954. The Battle of Monmouth Monument stands before the courthouse. Earlier buildings The first Court House of Monmouth County was erected in 1714–1715. This was a small wooden building and remained in use until a second courthouse was built in 1719, which was used until 1727 when it was destroyed by fire. In 1730-1731 a new court house and jail were erected on the same site. This building was used for 75 years and is the one which was made historic by the Battle of Monmouth as it is said that Gen.
