Frederik Meijer Gardens
Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is a botanical garden, art museum, and outdoor sculpture park located in Grand Rapids Township, Michigan, Grand Rapids Township, State of Michigan, Michigan, United States. Opened in 1995, Meijer Gardens quickly established itself in the Midwest as a major cultural attraction jointly focused on horticulture and sculpture. Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park includes a tropical conservatory, an 8-acre Japanese garden, major works of modern and contemporary sculpture on the grounds and indoors, along with a series of outdoor gardens and nature trails. It is a well attended cultural site in Michigan, having attracted 750,000 visitors annually between 2015 - 2017. Marshall Maynard Fredericks (January 31, 1908 – April 4, 1998) was an American sculptor known for such works as '' Fountain of Eternal Life'', '' The Spirit of Detroit'', ''Man and the Expanding Universe Fountain'', and many others. Early life and education Fredericks was born of Scandinavian descent in Rock Island, Illinois, on January 31, 1908. His family moved to Florida for a short time and then settled in Cleveland, where he grew-up.
