Fred Allen Jones Jr. (born October 18, 1977) is an American former professional football linebacker who played four seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. He played college football at the University of Colorado Boulder. He was also a member of the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe. Early life and college Fred Allen Jones Jr. was born on October 18, 1977, in Subic Bay, Philippines. He attended St. Augustine High School in San Diego, California. He was a member of the Colorado Buffaloes football team from 1996 to 1999 and a letterman in 1996, 1998, and 1999. Professional career After going undrafted in the 2000 NFL draft, Jones signed with the Buffalo Bills on April 23, 2000. He played in 15 games during his rookie season in 2000, recording 13 solo tackles, three assisted tackles, and one sack. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and typically line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and so back up the defensive linemen. They play closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary). As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). 2001 NFL Season
The 2001 NFL season was the 82nd regular season of the National Football League (NFL), and the first season of the 21st century. The league permanently moved the first week of the regular season to the weekend following Labor Day. In the wake of the September 11 attacks, the NFL's week 2 games (September 16 and 17) were postponed and rescheduled to the weekend of January 6 and 7, 2002. To retain the full playoff format, all playoff games, including Super Bowl XXXVI, were rescheduled one week later. The 2000 Buffalo Bills season was the team's 41st and 31st as part of the National Football League. The Bills total offense ranked 9th in the league and their total defense ranked 3rd in the league. Rhein Fire (NFL Europe)
The Rhein Fire were a professional football team in the NFL Europe, formerly the World League of American Football. Established in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1995, the franchise resurrected the name of the former Birmingham Fire team which was active during the 1991–1992 WLAF seasons. History The team was based in Düsseldorf (and early on the team was occasionally referred to in the U.S. as the Düsseldorf Fire), playing at the Rheinstadion until 2002.
