François Fournier (Lower Canada Politician)
François Fournier (1776 – October 18, 1836) was a land surveyor and political figure in Lower Canada. He represented Devon in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada The Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada was the lower house of the bicameral structure of provincial government in Lower Canada until 1838. The legislative assembly was created by the Constitutional Act of 1791. The lower house consisted of e ... from 1814 to 1824. He was born in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, the son of Louis Fournier and Madeleine Jean, probably on June 2, 1776. He studied as a land surveyor and received his commission in 1799. Fournier was also a captain and later major in the militia and served as a justice of the peace. In 1804, he married Catherine Miville-Deschênes. He did not run for reelection in 1824. François Fournier-Sarlovèze
François Louis Fournier-Sarlovèze (6 September 1773 – 18 January 1827) was a French general of the Napoleonic Wars. Biography Born in Sarlat in 1773, his father owned a cabaret. In his youth, he received solid instruction by the monks of his hometown and became a clerk of the prosecutor. In 1791, he went to Paris and entered the army, and the following year became second lieutenant of the Ninth Dragoons. Posted to the Army of the Alps, he distinguished himself through his extreme Jacobinist political opinions so that, after Robespierre’s death, he was deprived of his rank and imprisoned in Lyon. He succeeded in escaping prison and was reinstated in the Army of the North, and afterwards in the Army of Sambre-et-Meuse. François Joseph Fournier
François Joseph Fournier (6 December 1857 - 13 January 1935) was a Autodidacticism, self-taught Belgians, Belgian adventurer and entrepreneur who explored Mexico and the island of Porquerolles. He was born into a family of modest means, in Clabecq, Belgium and died on Porquerolles. Fournier purchased the entire island of Porquerolles in 1912, apparently as a wedding present for his wife. He planted 200 hectares (about 500 acres) of vineyards which produced a wine that was among the first to be French_wine#Quality_levels_and_appellation_system, classed French_wine#Provence, des Côtes de Provence. On 22 February 1912, at an auction, he bought the island of Porquerolles for the sum of one million and one hundred francs. He obtained French nationality on 28 June 1914.
