Frank O'Connor (rugby League)
Francis Arthur O'Connor (1906-1964) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s and 1930s and represented his state and country. He was a triple premiership winner with South Sydney. Playing career South Sydney O'Connor was a champion forward who played for South Sydney for ten seasons between 1927 and 1937. O'Connor was a member of the champion Souths teams of the late 1920s and 1930s. He partnered his older brother Alf O'Connor in the winning 1929 Grand Final team, and played in two more winning grand finals - the 1931 Grand Final and the 1932 Grand Final. Representative O'Connor was also a representative player for New South Wales, playing fifteen times for the Blues between 1930 and 1934. He also represented Australia, making his Test debut in the 2nd Test against England in Brisbane in 1932. Kangaroo Tour
Kangaroo Tour is the name given to Australian national rugby league team tours of Great Britain and France, tours to New Zealand and the one-off tour to Papua New Guinea (1991). The first Kangaroo Tour was in 1908. Traditionally, Kangaroo Tours took place every four years and involved a three-Test Ashes series against Great Britain (sometimes called Northern Union or The Lions) and a number of tour matches. The 1911/12 and 1921/22 tours were by the Australasian Kangaroos as both teams included New Zealand players. Some Kangaroo tours to Great Britain and France also included international friendly matches against Wales, though these games were not given test match status. The last full Kangaroo Tour was in 1994, although shortened Kangaroo Tours took place in 2001 and again in 2003. Dave Brown (rugby League, Born 1913)
David Michael Brown (4 April 1913 – 23 February 1974) was one of Australia's greatest rugby league footballers. Brown in his distinctive headgear was said to be one of the most admired sights in the game during the 1930s. He won two premierships with Easts and scored so many points, tries and goals and established so many records (some may never be bettered) that he is referred to as "the Bradman of league". In 2003 Brown was inducted into the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame and in 2008 he was named in the New South Wales rugby league team of the century. In 2018, Brown joined Rugby League's elite by being inducted as a Rugby League Immortal. Background Brown was born Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. As a child Brown lost the top of his thumb in a lawn-mowing accident. Ferris Ashton
Ferris Arthur Ashton (21 August 1926 – 29 January 2013) was an Australian rugby league footballer who represented his country in 8 test matches. Ferris was also a member of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) during the Second World War. Club career Ashton was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and began his rugby league career playing with the Bondi United club at a junior level. In 1950 the burly forward began his senior career with Eastern Suburbs. A loyal clubman, Ashton played 87 matches for Easts in the years (1950–56),http://www.stats.rleague.com/rl/scorers/players/Ferris_Ashton.html captaining the side in many of those years and has now been made a life member of the club.
