Francis O'Brien (Canadian Politician)
Francis Gerard O'Brien (December 15, 1927 – August 15, 2020) was a Canadian politician and farmer. He represented 2nd Kings in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1982 to 1989 as a Progressive Conservative. O'Brien was born in 1927 in Morell, Prince Edward Island. He married Rosella Magennis in 1953. He was a mink and beef farmer before entering politics. O'Brien entered provincial politics in the 1982 election, when he was elected councillor for the electoral district of 2nd Kings. Francis O'Brien (Irish Politician)
Francis O'Brien (born 7 April 1943) is an Irish former Fianna Fáil politician. He was a senator from 1989 to 2011, elected by the Agricultural Panel. Political career O'Brien is a native of Latton, near Ballybay, in County Monaghan. He was a member of Monaghan County Council from 1979 until 2003, serving as Council chairman in 1986 to 1987. O'Brien was elected to the Seanad in 1989, but did not contest the 2011 Seanad election. Business career In 2006, according to an article by the ''Irish Independent'', O'Brien obtained loans amounting to millions of euros in order to buy of agricultural land outside the village of Inniskeen, County Monaghan in the hope that it would be rezoned for housing. However, the Inniskeen Action Committee opposed the development and, despite several Fianna Fáil councillors voting for the rezoning, the motion was defeated (12 votes to seven) by Fine Gael and Sinn Féin councillors. Francis Patrick O'Brien (11 February 1911 – 22 October 1991) was a New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Canterbury from 1932 to 1946 and for Northamptonshire in 1938 and 1939. A hard-hitting, tall and elegant middle-order batsman, O'Brien was one of three New Zealanders in the Northamptonshire team in 1938 and 1939, alongside Ken James and Bill Merritt, but he was unable to carry his New Zealand form into county cricket, scoring only 1306 runs in 40 matches. Fran O'Brien (footballer)
Fran O'Brien (born 7 April 1955) is an Irish footballer who played during the 1970s and 1980s. He was the first player to be capped for the Republic of Ireland playing in United States, earning a total of four caps. He also coached for the premier club PacNW in Seattle. Playing career O'Brien won a league winners medal with Bohemians in 1974–75. During his career with Bohs, Fran made 62 league appearances with 1 goal and 8 appearances in European competition scoring 1 goal. In 1978, O'Brien moved along with Pat Byrne and Eddie Byrne to the Philadelphia Fury of the North American Soccer League (NASL). When the Fury moved to Montreal after the 1980 season, O'Brien went with the team and spent the next two seasons with the renamed Montreal Manic. In 1983, he signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps and spent the next two season with them. ''Gallipoli'' is a 1981 Australian war drama film directed by Peter Weir and produced by Patricia Lovell and Robert Stigwood, starring Mel Gibson and Mark Lee.
