Fort Acuña
Fortunato "Fort" Acuña (April 17, 1948 – July 6, 1981) was a Filipino professional basketball player and coach. A 6'1" center/forward, he played for the UP Fighting Maroons in the UAAP. In the MICAA, Acuña played for the Meralco Reddy Kilowatts until it disbanded in 1972. He joined the newly formed Toyota Comets in 1973, along with Meralco teammates Alberto Reynoso, Orlando Bauzon, Robert Jaworski and Francis Arnaiz. He continued with the Toyota team when the franchise transferred to the Philippine Basketball Association in 1975. Acuña retired from active play after the 1978 PBA All-Filipino Conference and began serving as assistant coach for Toyota. On December 11 1979, he replaced Dante Silverio as Toyota head coach after Silverio resigned when management decided to reinstate Ramon Fernandez, Ernesto Estrada and Abe King for Game 2 of the ongoing PBA Invitational Conference finals. The 1979 PBA season was the fifth season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Season highlights *After a two-year absence of playing against each other in the championship between the league's most noted rivalry, Crispa and Toyota played once again in the finals during the All-Filipino Conference. Insecticide
Insecticides are pesticides used to kill insects. They include ovicides and larvicides used against insect eggs and larvae, respectively. The 1980 PBA All-Filipino Conference finals was the best-of-5 basketball championship series of the 1980 PBA All-Filipino Conference, and the conclusion of the conference's playoffs. The Crispa Redmanizers won their finals series against Toyota Tamaraws, three games to one, for an incredible 20–1 record and retains the All-Filipino crown. Qualification Games summary Game 1 Two completed fastbreaks by Atoy Co, the second from a steal by Bernie Fabiosa, were the key points of the exciting contest as the Redmanizers surge to a 103–96 lead with 1:40 left. Crispa Redmanizers
The Crispa Redmanizers were a multi-titled Filipino basketball team that played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1975 to 1984. It was one of the nine founding teams of the PBA, winning a total of thirteen PBA championships, including two grand slams. Founded in 1956 by businessman Valeriano "Danny" Floro, the team was owned by P. Floro and Sons, Inc. (defunct). Profile and history Named after the retail store and textile manufacturing company owned by the Floro family, the Redmanizers were managed by sportsman Danny Floro and coached for many years by the legendary Virgilio "Baby" Dalupan. The Redmanizer moniker was a reference to the Redmanization process used in Crispa's textile manufacturing to make the cloth dimensionally stable and more resilient to unwanted shrinking after washing.
