The men's football tournament at the 2023 Pacific Games was the 16th edition of the Football at the Pacific Games, men's football tournament at the Pacific Games, held from 17 November to 2 December, in Honiara, Solomon Islands. Lues Waya (born 1 August 2001) is a New Caledonian footballer currently playing for USSA Vertou and the New Caledonia national team. Club career Waya began playing football in the academy of AS Tiga Sport at age 12. A few years later he moved to AS Wetr for two seasons before returning to Tiga Sport. He began as a goalkeeper before transitioning to midfielder and eventually striker. He was promoted to Tiga's first team in 2019 and became a key player during the 2020 season. Between March and December that year, he score five total goals, three in the regular season and an additional two goals in the play-offs. The Fiji Football Association is the governing body of football in Fiji. It came into existence in 1961. It is the overseeing body of the Fiji National Team and its leagues. Makalu Xowi (born 20 April 1999) is a New Caledonian footballer currently playing for Central Sport and the New Caledonia national team. Club career From a young age, Xowi played for SC Ne Drehu of the New Caledonia Super Ligue. In 2013 he scored his club's only goal in a league victory over AS Tiga Sport. The victory was Ne Drehu's first of the 2013 season following five defeats. The goal was the player's second of the season. Xowi moved abroad to join Tahiti's A.S. Temanava in 2018. Tremaine Rimene-Albrett (born 3 September 2002) is a Cook Islands footballer who currently plays for Douglas Villa AFC and the Cook Islands national team. Club career As a youth, Rimene-Albrett was successful in several sports before eventually deciding to focus primarily on football. He joined Douglas Villa AFC, then known as Douglas Villa Magpies, at age 14.
