Football Association Of Malaysia
The Football Association of Malaysia (commonly abbreviated as FAM; ) is the national governing body of football in Malaysia, headquartered at Wisma FAM. The FAM is also one of the founding members of both the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It has been affiliated with FIFA since 1954. The FAM oversees the organisation and development of football and advancing the game at all levels in Malaysia, and is responsible for all aspects of the amateur and professional game in its territory. This includes the men's, women's and youth national football teams as well as the Malaysian Amateur Football League and Malaysia Premier Futsal League. Wisma FAM is a training facility and the main headquarters for the Football Association of Malaysia located at Kelana Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. The Facility is founded by the Football Association of Malaysia with it purpose to serve as the Football Association of Malaysia main headquarters and also serves as a training ground for the National Football teams of Malaysia. HMS Malaya
HMS ''Malaya'' was one of five ''Queen Elizabeth''-class super-dreadnought battleships built for the Royal Navy during the 1910s. Shortly after commissioning in early 1916, she participated in the Battle of Jutland of the First World War as part of the Grand Fleet. ''Malaya'' spent the interwar period between the Mediterranean Fleet, Atlantic Fleet, and Home Fleet. She transported Ottoman Sultan Mehmed VI into exile and served during the 1936-1939 Arab revolt in Palestine. Apart from this, her interwar career was uneventful. With the outbreak of the Second World War, ''Malaya'' served with the Mediterranean Fleet, serving as a convoy escort and fighting in the Battle of Calabria and Operation Grog. Football At The 1980 Summer Olympics
The football tournament at the 1980 Summer Olympics started on 20 July and ended on 2 August. Only one event, the ''men's tournament'', was contested. Seven qualified countries did not participate, joining the American-led boycott in protest of the December 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The 1972 Summer Olympics (), officially known as the Games of the XX Olympiad () and officially branded as Munich 1972 (; ), were an international multi-sport event held in Munich, West Germany, from 26 August to 11 September 1972. 1957 Merdeka Tournament
The first edition of the Merdeka Tournament was held in August and September 1957 in Malaya (now Malaysia). It was won by Hong Kong League XI. Singapore won a consolation tournament for teams that did not qualify for the final round. First round A series of knockout ties was held to determine which teams would compete in the second round. The match between South Vietnam and Singapore required a replay as the score was level at the end of the first match. King's Cup (Thailand)
The King's Cup is an international football tournament held in Thailand, organised by the Football Association of Thailand. The winner of the competition is given the royal trophy by the King of Thailand. The host, Thailand, is a participant in every edition. Merdeka Tournament () is an international friendly football tournament held in Malaysia to commemorate the Independence Day. It is mainly played at Independence Stadium, in Kuala Lumpur. The Independence Stadium or Merdeka Stadium is a stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is known as the site of the formal declaration of independence of the Federation of Malaya on Independence Day (Malaysia), 31 August 1957. The stadium is also the site of the proclamation of Malaysia on Malaysia Day, 16 September 1963. Currently owned by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), the stadium has a lower and an upper terrace, with a total capacity of 25,000. The Malaysia Cup (), formerly known as Malaya Cup, is an annual football tournament in Malaysia, held at the end of the calendar year. The cup was first held in 1921. Despite its prestige and popularity as the country's oldest cup tournament, it does not guarantee a place in a continental competition, which is allocated to the Malaysia FA Cup winners. The competition was previously managed by the Football Association of Malaysia, before it was transferred to the Football Malaysia LLP (now known as the Malaysian Football League) in the 2016 season. Tunku Abdul Rahman (8 February 19036 December 1990), commonly referred to as Tunku, was a Malaysian statesman who served as prime minister of Malaysia from 1957 to 1970. He previously served as the only chief minister of Federation of Malaya, Malaya from 1955 to 1957, as President of the United Malays National Organisation, President of UMNO from 1951 to 1971, and as leader of the Alliance Party (Malaysia), Alliance Party from 1952 to 1971.
