Vers La Flamme
__NOTOC__ ''Vers la flamme'' (''Toward the flame''), Op. 72, is one of Alexander Scriabin's last pieces for piano, written in 1914. The main motif of the piece consists of descending half steps or whole steps interspersed with impressionistic representations of fire. The piece was originally intended to be Scriabin's eleventh sonata; however, he had to publish it early because of financial concerns, and hence he labelled it a poem rather than a sonata. Like many of Scriabin's late works, the piece does not conform to classical harmony and is instead built on the mystic chord and modal transpositions of its tone center. A typical performance last 5 to 6 minutes. The piece is notorious for its difficulty, in particular the enormous leaps and long, unusual double-note trills in the final pages. According to pianist Vladimir Horowitz, the piece was inspired by Scriabin's eccentric conviction that a constant accumulation of heat would ultimately cause the destruction of the world.H ...

Feuer Und Flamme
''Feuer und Flamme'' (German for "Fire and Flame", with the additional figurative meaning of "great enthusiasm"), released in 1985, is the third album by German pop band Nena and the fourth studio album of its singer, Gabriele "Nena" Kerner. The album was a success, reaching in Germany. Prompted by the success of ''99 Luftballons'' (1984), which included English-language versions of songs from the band's first two albums, Nena recreated ''Feuer und Flamme'' in English as ''It's All in the Game'' (1985), with lyrics by Canadian singer Lisa Dalbello. The experiment failed commercially and was not repeated with the band's next album. Gabriele Kerner recorded a new bilingual German-English version of "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime" with Kim Wilde in 2002. The duet became a big hit in many European countries, including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The fifth and final single from the album was "Du kennst die Liebe nicht", however, for the singl ...

Jeanne La Flamme
Joan of Flanders ( 1295 – September 1374) was duchess of Brittany by her marriage to John of Montfort. Much of her life was taken up in defense of the rights of her husband to the duchy, and, later, her son's rights to the duchy, which was challenged by the House of Blois during the War of the Breton Succession. Known for her fiery personality, Joan led Montfort's cause after her husband had been captured by Philip VI of France, and began the fight back. There, she displayed considerable skill as a military leader and gained the respect of her people. Shortly after taking refuge in England, she was confined to Tickhill Castle by order of King Edward III. Joan was highly praised by the chronicler Jean Froissart for her courage and energy. She may have been an inspiration to Joan of Arc and was a role model to Victorian feminists. Because of her feats of leadership, historian David Hume described her as "the most extraordinary woman of the age". Life Family Joan was the daug ...

The opera had its world premiere at the old National Theatre Brno, National Theatre (Národní Divadlo na Veveří) in Brno on 27 January 1932 in Czech under the title ''Plameny''. It was not heard again until the mid-1990s, when it was performed in its German translation by Max Brod as ''Flammen''. Its story is a surrealist retelling of the Don Juan legend with elements from the legend of the Wandering Jew, and heavily influenced by Freudian psychology.
