FIVEaa
FIVEAA (pronounced ''Five Double A'') is Adelaide's only commercial talkback radio station. The station has a range of programs including news, sports, current affairs, social issues, football calls, gardening, lifestyle, cars, travel and health. It is owned by Nova Entertainment. History 5AA commenced service in Kent Town on 14 March 1976 on the frequency 1390 AM. It was moved to 1386 AM with the introduction of 9 kHz spacing on the AM dial in 1978. The station now broadcasts on 1395 AM. 5AA commenced its life with a "Beautiful Music" format and quickly became Adelaide's number-1-rated radio station. In 1976, the only FM competition was ABC Classic FM. AM stations were ABC Radio, 5DN and music stations 5KA and 5AD. In the 1980s, 5AA was sold to the State Government owned TAB betting agency, ditching music to begin broadcasting horse and dog racing, with talkback in between race calls. 1116 SEN (call sign 3AK) is an Australian radio station in Victoria, Australia. Owned and operated by Sports Entertainment Group, it broadcasts a sports radio format. It commenced broadcasting on 29 November 1931 as 3AK, the station currently broadcasts from studios in South Melbourne. History The station first broadcast on 29 November 1931 as 3AK. Cruise 1323 (call sign: 5DN) is one of Adelaide's longest running radio stations. In its 80+ years it has changed considerably. It was the first commercial station to begin broadcasting in South Australia. History Radio 5DN began operating as an experimental station in 1924 on a wavelength of "about 200 metres" (1500 kHz), with official services beginning on 24 February 1925. It began as the hobby of businessman and industrialist Ernest James Hume, a brother of Walter Reginald Hume, but soon grew to absorb the time and energy of the Hume family. Hume bought his transmitter, and some other equipment from radio pioneer Lance C. Jones, who ran station 5BQ in Westbourne Park, South Australia, Westbourne Park. Hindmarsh Square/Mukata (formerly Mogata) is one of five public squares in the Adelaide city centre, South Australia. It is located in the centre of the north-eastern quarter of the city, and surrounds the intersection of Grenfell and Pulteney streets, near the eastern end of the Rundle Mall. Pirie Street forms the southern boundary of the square.
