Steven Finn
Steven Thomas Finn (born 4 April 1989) is a former English cricketer. He was a right-arm fast bowler, who also bats right-handed. At the age of 16, he became Middlesex County Cricket Club's youngest-ever debutant in first-class cricket. He made his England Test debut in 2010 against Bangladesh. In 2019 he became a commentator for ''Test Match Special''. Early life Finn was educated at Parmiter's School in Garston near Watford. He is a supporter of Watford F.C. and a former county basketball player. Finn played locally for Langleybury CC and West Herts CC, and later in his career for Hampstead Cricket Club. Domestic cricket He made his first-class debut for Middlesex on 1 June 2005, playing against Cambridge UCCE at Fenner's. He took 1 wicket for 16 runs (1/16) and 1/37 and did not bat. William Finny
William Evelyn St Lawrence Finny Doctor of Medicine, M.D., Master of Surgery, M.Ch., B.A.O., J.P., F.S.A. (1864-1952), was a physician, local politician (Mayor of Kingston upon Thames seven times) and historian, author of 'All Saints, Kingston upon Thames (1930)'. Early life He was born in Gotham, Nottinghamshire, 1 September 1864 of Irish ancestry. His father, Henry Maturin Finny, a curate in the Church of England at Gotham, died in 1865 and his mother, Agnes Amelia (née Leslie) returned to Ireland. In 1873 he was elected for the Clergy Support Trust, Clergy Orphan School at Canterbury. He was educated at St Columba's College, Dublin, and Trinity College Dublin, graduating in 1887 as M.B. and M.Ch with B.A.O. in 1891. ''Phineas Finn'' is a novel by Anthony Trollope and the name of its leading character. The novel was first published as a monthly serial from 1867 to 1868 and issued in book form in 1869. It is the second of the " Palliser" series of novels. Its sequel, '' Phineas Redux'', is the fourth novel in the series. It deals with British politics of the 1860s, including voting reform, secret ballot, rotten boroughs, and Irish tenant-right, as well as Finn's romances with women of fortune, which would secure his financial future. John Knowles
John Knowles (; September 16, 1926November 29, 2001) was an American novelist best known for ''A Separate Peace'' (1959). Biography Knowles was born on September 16, 1926, in Fairmont, West Virginia, the son of James M. Knowles, a purchasing agent from Lowell, Massachusetts, and Mary Beatrice Shea Knowles from Concord, New Hampshire. His father was a coal company executive, which earned an income that afforded the family a comfortable living. As a youth, Knowles would remark that he could write just as well as the stories from ''The Saturday Evening Post''. Knowles attended St. Peter's High School in Fairmont from 1938 to 1940, before he continued at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire, and graduated in 1945. Finny (or Finney) () is a small village and townland in County Mayo, Ireland. The village is situated in the civil parish of Ross, in the Barony of Ross. Finny is located on the R300 regional road.
