Figure Skating At The 1992 Winter Olympics
The figure skating events at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games were held at the Halle Olympique located next to the Théâtre des Cérémonies, two kilometres southwest of downtown Albertville. The final placements were decided by factored placements. In the men's singles, ladies' singles and the pairs event, the short program (SP) was factored by 0.5, one-third (33.3%) of the total score, while the free skating (FS) was factored by 1.0, two-thirds (66.7%) of the total score. In ice dance, the two compulsory dances (CD) were factored by a total of 0.4 (0.2 each dance), which was 20% of the total score (10% each dance). The original dance (OD) was factored by 0.6 (30% of the total score), while the free dance (FD) was factored by 1.0 (50% of the total score). La Halle De Glace Olympique
Halle Olympique () is an indoor arena located in Albertville, France. For the 1992 Winter Olympics, it hosted the figure skating and the short track speed skating events. It was first use for the 1991 Trophée Lalique, which was staged as a test event for the Olympics. The venue also hosted selected matches of the 2017 World Men's Handball Championship. Construction The site was constructed on ten internal pillars. Its ice was laid down on foundation, then of insulation, of screed, and finally, of ice. The ice temperature was kept between depending upon the sporting discipline. The Halle Olympique underwent a major overhaul in 2014 and was reopened the following spring. Alexei Urmanov
Alexei Yevgenyevich Urmanov (; born 17 November 1973) is a Russian figure skating coach and former competitor. He is the 1994 Olympic champion, the 1993 World bronze medalist, the 1997 European champion, the 1995–96 Champions Series Final champion, a four-time Russian national champion, and the 1992 Soviet national champion. Personal life Urmanov was born on 17 November 1973 in Leningrad, Soviet Union. In 2001, his partner, Viktoria, gave birth to twins, Ivan and Andrei. The couple married in 2004. Career Urmanov started skating in 1977. Early in his career, he was coached by N. Monakhova and Natalia Golubeva. Ralph Burghart
Ralph Burghart (born 16 September 1966) is an Austrian figure skating coach and former competitor. A seven-time Austrian national champion, he competed at the 1992 Winter Olympics and placed 18th. Personal life Ralph Burghart was born on 16 September 1966 in Vienna, Austria. He married U.S. figure skater Rory Flack in December 1992. They have two sons, Rendell, born 28 September 1993, and Remington, born 17 January 1997. David Liu (figure Skater)
David Liu ( zh, t=劉中達, p=Liú Zhōngdá, w=Liu Chung-ta; born August 12, 1965) is a Taiwanese former competitive figure skater. He won silver medals at the 1991 Piruetten and 1992 Grand Prix International St. Gervais. He represented Taiwan at three Olympics, reaching the free skate at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, where he finished 17th. Early life Liu was born on August 12, 1965, in Taipei, Taiwan. Éric Millot (12 December 1968) is a French former competitive figure skater. He is the 1993 European bronze medalist, the 1995–96 Champions Series Final bronze medalist, and a four-time (1990–93) French national champion. He represented France at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, where he placed 15th, and at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, where he placed 7th. Steven Cousins
Steven Cousins (born 24 May 1972) is a British former competitive men's singles figure skater. He is the 1993 Skate Canada International bronze medalist and an eight-time British national champion. He finished as high as 6th at the Olympics (1998), 7th at the World Championships (1998), and 4th at the European Championships (1996). He is the 1985 European bronze medalist, the 1989 European silver medalist and the 1989 World bronze medalist. Todd James Eldredge (born August 28, 1971) is an American former competitive figure skater. He is the 1996 World champion, a six-time U.S. national champion (1990, 1991, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2002), a three-time Olympian (1992, 1998, 2002), and a six-time World medalist.
