The women's foil fencing competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing took place on August 11 at the Olympic Green Convention Centre. Olympic Green Convention Centre
The China National Convention Center, previously known as the Olympic Green Convention Center () is a convention center located in the Olympic Green in Beijing. History It was designed by RMJM and was originally used for the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. It covers an area of 270,000 square metres. Sylwia Gruchała (born 6 November 1981 in Gdynia, Pomorskie) is a Polish fencer. Biography In the team foil she won medals at the world championships in 1998 (bronze), 1999 (silver), 2002 (silver), 2003 (gold) and 2007 (gold) as well as an Olympic silver medal in 2000. In Individual Foil she won a silver medal at the 2003 World Championship as well as an Olympic bronze medal in 2004. She is a soldier in the 3rd Command Support Battalion of the Polish Land Forces stationed in Warsaw. Gruchała is also part of the Leon Paul team. In 2009, she posed for Polish erotic magazine CKM. Eman El Gammal
Eman El Gammal is an Egyptian fencer. At the 2008 Olympics, she competed both as an individual and in the Egyptian team, losing in the first round to the Netherlands' Indra Angad-Gaur and the team lost in the first round to Russia. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she competed in the Women's foil, and was defeated by Venezuela's Johana Fuenmayor 9-15 in the first round. Biography Carolin Golubytskyi attended Riemenschneider-Realschule Tauberbischofsheim and the Kaufmännische Schule Tauberbischofsheim. Golubytskyi fought for the Fencing-Club Tauberbischofsheim. She is coached by her husband, Sergei Golubytskyi, a former world class fencer, 3 time consecutive World Champion, and Olympic silver medallist. Golubytskyi was part of the German team winning the bronze medal at the 2009 World Fencing Championships in Antalya, Turkey. Hanna Thompson (born November 1, 1983, in Rochester, New York) is an American foil and sabre fencer who was a member of the 2008 Olympics U.S. Women's foil team, which won the silver medal. A 2006 graduate of Ohio State University, Thompson was a four-time NCAA All-America and helped the Buckeyes capture the 2004 NCAA National Championship. Thompson also placed third individually at the NCAA Championships in 2002 and 2004 and helped Ohio State capture four consecutive Midwest Championship titles. Thompson has also competed with six national teams and two junior squads, earning a third-place team medal at the 2003 Junior World Championships in Trapani, Italy. In 2005, she won a Senior National Championship with the Rochester Fencing Club and also helped that squad bring in five senior team titles.
