Featured Artists' Coalition
The Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) is a Nonprofit organization, nonprofit organisation set up to protect the rights of featured musical artists, particularly in the new digital age. It encourages a greater connection between fan (person), fans and artists and aims to promote transparency (market), transparency in the music industry specifically to the benefit of the artists themselves. It is a United Kingdom, UK based organization, founded in early 2009, lobbying and political campaign, campaigning for the rights of featured artists (i.e. 'the musicians and bands whose names are on the cover of the record' as distinct from session musicians). It was formed by a number of high-profile artists as a reaction to the conventional stance by the music industry that saw artists as not constituting an organised body and so often not possessing direct control over their own work. Travis (band)
Travis are a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 1990, and composed of Fran Healy (musician), Fran Healy (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Dougie Payne (bass guitar, backing vocals), Andy Dunlop (lead guitar, banjo, backing vocals), and Neil Primrose (musician), Neil Primrose (drums, percussion). Fran Healy (musician)
Francis Healy (born 23 July 1973) is a Scottish musician. He is the lead singer and lyricist of the band Travis (band), Travis, having written nearly all of the songs on their first six studio albums along with their ninth and tenth, with the seventh and eighth containing material written by other members of the band. Healy released his debut solo album, titled ''Wreckorder'', in October 2010. Early life Born in Stafford, England, Healy grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, his mother's home town. The Futureheads
The Futureheads are an English post-punk band from Sunderland, formed in 2000. The band consists of Ross Millard (vocals and guitar), David "Jaff" Craig (vocals and bass guitar) and brothers Barry Hyde (vocals and guitar) and Dave Hyde (drums). Their name comes from the title of the Flaming Lips album '' Hit to Death in the Future Head''. The band's influences include new wave and post-punk bands such as Gang of Four, Devo, XTC, Wire and Fugazi. Ross Millard
Ross Millard (born 22 July 1982) is an English musician and graphic designer, best known as guitarist and vocalist in The Futureheads. The band released their self-titled debut album in September 2004; their second album '' News & Tributes'' followed in May 2006, with their third album '' This Is Not the World'' released in May 2008 via the band's own label Nul Records. Millard attended Newcastle University, UK and graduated in 2003 with a BA(Hons) in English Literature. In 2007 Millard set up his own record label Longest Mile Records with friends Paul Reed and Nick Jackson. The label's first release, on 7" vinyl and digital, was the debut single "This Is Just The Nighttime, Andy!" from North-Eastern band The Catweasels. Master Shortie
Theo Jerome Kerlin (born 7 May 1989) is a British MC who is credited by his stage name Master Shortie. He is also a singer and has established his own record label, Odd One Out. He was included in the Sound of 2009 poll. Early life Kerlin is from Mitcham in South London. His father ran an east London jazz bar throughout his childhood, which led him to listen to many genres of music, encouraging him to start rapping at the age of 12. Sandie Shaw
Sandra Ann Goodrich (born 26 February 1947), known by her stage name Sandie Shaw, is a retired English pop singer. One of the most successful British female singers of the 1960s, she had three UK number one singles with "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" (1964), " Long Live Love" (1965) and " Puppet on a String" (1967). With the latter, she became the first British entry to win the Eurovision Song Contest. Mark Colbert Kelly (born 1961) is an Irish keyboardist and a member of the neo-prog band Marillion. Biography Kelly was born on 9 April 1961 and was raised in Ireland until he moved to England with his parents in 1969. Kelly was an electronics student while performing part-time in the progressive/ psychedelic band Chemical Alice, who released their EP ''Curiouser and Curiouser'' in 1981. He was invited to join Marillion when they supported Chemical Alice, replacing founding keyboardist Brian Jelliman. His first performance with the band was at the Great Northern at Cambridge on 1 December 1981. He has appeared on every Marillion studio album. John Howard Jones (born 23 February 1955) is a British musician, singer and songwriter. He had ten top 40 hit singles in the UK between 1983 and 1986, six of which reached the top ten, including "Like to Get to Know You Well" , "What Is Love?
