Farmers' And Settlers' Association Of New South Wales
The Farmers' and Settlers' Association of New South Wales (F&S) was an umbrella organisation of farmers' and selectors' associations in New South Wales, founded in 1893. In August 1961, United Farmers' and Woolgrowers' Association of New South Wales was formed when F&S recombined with the Wool and Wheat Growers' Association, which had split off in 1930. After further mergers, the United Farmers' and Woolgrowers' Industrial Association of New South Wales was formed in 1969. In 1978, the United Farmers' and Woolgrowers' Association merged with the Graziers' Association of New South Wales to form the Livestock and Grain Producers Association of New South Wales (LGPA NSW). In January 1987, the LGPA changed its name to the NSW Farmers Association (usually referred to simply as NSW Farmers). ''The National Advocate'' was a daily newspaper published in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia, between 1889 and 1963. Newspaper history The newspaper was established on 28 September 1889, co-founded by Australian businessman James Rutherford as a vehicle to put forward a protectionist viewpoint. The newspaper's board of directors included Francis Halliday who was at that time was president of the Bathurst National Protection League. The ''National Advocate'' had a reputation as the local mouthpiece of the Australian Labor Party, in contrast to the conservative-leaning '' Bathurst Times''. For many years its manager was John Percival, a Labor member of the New South Wales Legislative Council. Percival was forced to resign in 1923 after being caught misusing company money. ''The Land'' is an English language newspaper published in Sydney and later in North Richmond, New South Wales by Australian Community Media. The newspaper commenced publication in 1911. History ''The Land'' first appeared in 1911 as a two penny broadsheet. It was founded by the Farmers' and Settlers' Association of New South Wales after losing their weekly '' Farmer and Settler''. It was later published by Rural Press, which merged with Fairfax Media. In 1930 Harry J. Walter Corrie Cambridge
Walter Corrie Cambridge (1 May 1875 – 14 April 1954) was an Australian politician. He was born in Sydney to engineer Henry Cambridge. He grew up in Hay, but later returned to Sydney and was an apprentice printer. Around 1908, he married Clarinda Sale, with whom he had two daughters. From 1917, he was an organiser with the Farmers' and Settlers' Association of New South Wales, becoming assistant secretary in 1919 and general secretary from 1925 to 1945; he was also active in the formation of the Progressive Party. From 1932 to 1946, he was a Country Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Council. New South Wales National Party
The New South Wales National Party (officially known as the National Party of Australia – N.S.W. and commonly known as the NSW Nationals) is an Australian political party in New South Wales which forms the state branch of the federal National Party. The party has generally been the junior partner in a centre-right Coalition with the NSW branch of the Liberal Party of Australia. Since 1927, the Nationals have been in Coalition with the Liberals and their predecessors, the Nationalist Party of Australia (1927–1931), the United Australia Party (1931–1943), and the Democratic Party (1943–1945). Ambrose Campbell Carmichael, MC (19 September 1871 – 15 January 1953) was an Australian politician, soldier and accountant, a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for 12 years and a minister in the McGowen and Holman Labor governments. Early life Carmichael was born in Hobart, Tasmania, to shipping agent William Carmichael and Emma Willson, both Scottish-born. He was educated at Hobart and then held a variety of occupations, including coaching in Brisbane and farming on the Lachlan River, where he became involved in the Farmers' and Settlers' Association of New South Wales.
