Fahd (armored Personnel Carrier)
The Fahd is a 4x4 Egyptian armored personnel carrier, designed to fit the requirements of the Egyptian Military. It replaced older APCs in Egyptian service such as the BTR-40, and the Walid (called Waleed in Egypt). It has been used by the United Nations. The flexible design of the vehicle, its high speed, maneuverability and long range, on road and off-road, makes it possible to produce various versions to satisfy various military and security purposes. Variants include the Fahd 240/280 APC, Fahd 280-30 IFV, a command post vehicle, ambulance vehicle, light armored recovery vehicle, and can be used for anti-riot purposes, mine laying and mine dispensing purposes, making it possible to form independent units capable of dealing with different threats of armor, low-flying targets, and personnel, with common repair duties, and operation. The Al-Fahd is an armoured fighting vehicle used by the Armed Forces of Saudi Arabia. It was the first armored fighting vehicle developed and built-in Saudi Arabia. Walid (armored Personnel Carrier)
The Walid is an Egyptian wheeled armored personnel carrier (APC) with a design and role very similar to the Soviet BTR-40. It first saw combat during the Six-Day War, and also saw use by Iraqi forces during the Gulf War. Description The Walid is an open-topped APC very similar to the BTR-40. The armor is all-welded steel with the diesel engine at the front, driver and commander sitting at the armoured cab and the troop compartment at the rear. The cab have two armoured shutters that can be lowered when necessary.
