Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV (Spanish), abbreviated EICTV - (The International Film and TV School) - was founded on December 15, 1986, by Colombian journalist and writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Cuban theoreticians and filmmakers Julio García Espinosa and Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, Argentinean poet and filmmaker Fernando Birri, all four former students of the film school at Cinecittà in Rome, and amongst others, Brazilian filmmakers Orlando Senna and Sergio Muniz. It is located in San Antonio de Los Baños, Artemisa Province, Cuba. The school provides a comprehensive theoretical and practical cinema education, within a completely self-sufficient environment and community for its students, faculty members, workers and staff. San Antonio De Los Baños
San Antonio de los Baños is a municipality and town in the Artemisa Province of Cuba. It is located 26 km from the city of Havana, and the Ariguanabo River runs through it. It was founded in 1802. History There are 39 schools in the town, employing over 600 teachers. These schools include an academy of plastic arts, a school for training art teachers, and the International School of Cinema and Television Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión which was established in 1986. Amat Escalante (born 28 February 1979) is a Mexican film director, producer and screenwriter. He is most well known for directing the controversial Mexican crime thriller ''Heli'' for which he was awarded the best director prize award at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, and for directing the 2016 Mexican drama '' The Untamed'' for which he received the Silver Lion for best director at the 2016 Venice Film Festival. Miguel Coyula
Miguel Coyula Aquino (born March 31, 1977, in Havana) is a Cuban filmmaker and writer. At age 17, he made his first short with a VHS camcorder, which led to his admittance to Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television (The International Film and Television School) of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Since then he has won awards in his country with his short films ''Bailar Sobre Agujas'' (1999), ''Buena Onda'', (1999), and '' Clase Z "Tropical"'' (2000). His work has always been shot on very low budgets, his features taking several years to complete, using heavy digital manipulation in postproduction. In 2000, he traveled to the United States on an invitation from the Providence Latino Film Festival. Jaime Rosales (director)
Jaime Rosales (born 1970 in Barcelona) is a Spanish film director, screenwriter and film producer. He spent three years in Cuba studying cinema at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión in San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV) in La Habana, and later at Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in Sydney, (Australia). He did several successful short films before his long film debut with ''Las horas del día'' that received the FIPRESCI Award at Cannes film festival. In 2007 filmed his second film, ''La soledad''. Artemisa Province
Artemisa Province is one of the two new provinces created from the former La Habana Province, whose creation was approved by the Cuban National Assembly on August 1, 2010, the other being Mayabeque Province. The new provinces came into existence on January 1, 2011. Overview Artemisa was the largest city and municipality of the former La Habana Province.
