Electoral District Of Mordialloc
The electoral district of Mordialloc is an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly including the suburbs of Braeside, Mordialloc, Aspendale, Aspendale Gardens, Edithvale, Chelsea, Chelsea Heights and Parkdale; and parts of Cheltenham and Mentone. The current member is Tim Richardson. Mordialloc is part of the Melbourne Sandbelt and is considered a Bellwether electorate. Timothy Noel Richardson (born 18 September 1988) is an Australian politician. He has been a Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since November 2014, representing the Legislative Assembly seat of Electoral district of Mordialloc, Mordialloc. Melbourne Sandbelt
The Melbourne Sandbelt is a region in southeastern Melbourne, Australia, known for its sandy soil. Several significant golf courses are located in the region. Location The Melbourne Sandbelt is a rough triangle extending from Brighton south along the coast of Port Phillip Bay to Frankston and to the east as far as Heatherton, Clayton and Oakleigh. Geology Much of Melbourne's eastern suburbs are covered by heavy clay subsoil. Around 20 million years ago, lower lying areas were flooded, which deposited sandstone material, now known as the Brighton Group. The Sandbelt suburbs are built on remnant sand dunes from this time. The sand can reach a depth of 80 metres in some places. Further east and north, the clay remains, and this region is sometimes referred to as the Clay Belt by contrast to the Sandbelt. The City of Kingston is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, its northern boundary lying approximately 15 km from the Melbourne city centre along the north-eastern shorelines of Port Phillip. Janice Ruth Munt (born 3 November 1955) is an Australian politician. Munt was born in Melbourne, Victoria. She was educated at Highett High School. Geoff Leigh (politician)
Geoffrey Graeme Leigh (born 24 August 1952) is a former Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, representing Malvern from 1982 to 1992 and Mordialloc from 1992 to 2002. Leigh was born in Mordialloc in Melbourne to marine engineer Ronald Pearson Leigh and his wife, schoolteacher Anne Thora Whiteside. He was educated in Papua New Guinea at Samarai Island State School before attending Mentone Boys Grammar, Parkdale Secretary College and Moorabbin Technical College.
