Extra (franchise)
''extra'' (stylized as ''extr@'') is a language education television programme franchise that was scripted in the format of a ''Friends''-esque sitcom. It was in production from 2002 to 2004, and is mainly marketed to the instructional television market for middle school and high school language classes. Four versions were made, each in a different language; English, French, German, and Spanish. The English version was co-produced by Channel 4 Learning and RAI CPTO (Production Centre of Turin) for RAI Educational. All of the episodes were written by Louise Clover. Plot The English version has 30 episodes, and the other three languages have 13 episodes each. The plot of the 13 episodes is nearly the same in all the language variants. Extra Hipermercados, commonly referred to as just Extra, is a Brazilian hypermarket and supermarket chains owned by grupo GPA (company), Pão de Açúcar. As of December 2005, Extra has 76 stores. ''Extra'' (originally ''Brisbane Extra'') was a nightly tabloid local current affairs program, broadcast on Nine Network Queensland. Heather Foord was the last host of the program. Extra is a brand of sugarfree chewing gum produced by the Wrigley Company in North America, Europe, Australia and some parts of Africa and Asia. Brand history Extra was launched in 1984 in the US and became one of the most popular brands of chewing gum there within a few years. It was also the first sugarfree gum not to use saccharin, instead using the NutraSweet brand, a sweetener developed by G.D.
