The European Speedway Club Champions' Cup was an annual speedway event held in different countries and organised by the European Motorcycle Union (UEM) from 1998 to 2011. The competition involved mainly Eastern European countries. Only Poland from the 'Big four' leagues entered teams to compete in the competition, with the British, Swedish and Danish leagues choosing not to compete. Daugavpils
Daugavpils (see also other names) is a state city in southeastern Latvia, located on the banks of the Daugava River, from which the city derives its name. The parts of the city to the north of the river belong to the historical Latvian region of Latgale, and those to the south lie in Selonia. The 2005 European Speedway Club Champions' Cup was the eighth motorcycle speedway championship for clubs competing in Europe. It was organised by the European Motorcycle Union (UEM). Włókniarz Częstochowa is a motorcycle speedway team based in Częstochowa, Poland. They were established in 1946 and the team's home track is at the Arena Częstochowa, which has a capacity of over 16,850 people. The team currently competes in the Ekstraliga (the highest division) and have won the Team Speedway Polish Championship four times. History 1948 to 1955 The first club in the city was CTCiM Częstochowa who competed in the inaugural 1948 Polish speedway season and 1949 season. During the 1950 Polish speedway season the club appeared in the second division under the name used today. In 1951, they were selected to compete in a single division. Ilirija Sports Park () is a multi-purpose stadium in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is the home ground of the Slovenian Second League team ND Ilirija 1911. The motorcycle speedway team Avto Moto Touring Klub (AMTK) Ljubljana used the speedway track at this venue as its home ground until 2020.
