''Europe's Biggest Dance Show'' is an annual multinational Electronic dance music, dance music simulcast hosted by BBC Radio 1 in the United Kingdom, in collaboration with several European radio stations, all of which are owned by Public broadcasting, public broadcasters which are members of the European Broadcasting Union. The show reaches several millions of listeners all over Europe. Background and history The BBC, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) announced on 27 September 2019 that it would join radio stations from seven other countries, and a potential audience of 18 million listeners, in hosting a one-off dance music simulcast on 11 October. The Europe's Biggest Dance Show 2019, first simulcast began at 19:00 British Summer Time, BST and ended at 02:00 BST on 12 October, with Annie Mac introducing for BBC Radio 1 in London. Dance Music
Dance music is music composed specifically to facilitate or accompany dancing. It can be either a whole piece or part of a larger musical arrangement. RTÉ 2fm, or 2FM as it is more commonly referred to, is an Irish radio station operated by RTÉ. ''Europe's Biggest Dance Show 2024'' is the seventh iteration of ''Europe's Biggest Dance Show'', a multi-nation dance music simulcast hosted by BBC Radio 1, in collaboration with ten radio stations across Europe: 1LIVE, FM4, Fritz, NRK mP3, Raadio 2, Radio Promin, RTÉ 2FM, Studio Brussel, SR P3 and YleX. Background The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) announced on 14 September 2024 that the seventh iteration of ''Europe's Biggest Dance Show'' would take place on 22 September. The simulcast started at 18:30 BST, with Danny Howard introducing for BBC Radio 1 in London. Rás 2 (''Channel 2'') is an Icelandic radio station belonging to the National Icelandic Broadcasting Service, RÚV. Launched on 1 December 1983, it is currently the highest-rated radio station in Iceland, with a schedule composed chiefly of news, current affairs, and pop and rock music. Broadcasting House
London Broadcasting House is the headquarters of the BBC, in Portland Place and Langham Place, London. The first radio broadcast from the building was made on 15 March 1932, and the building was officially opened two months later, on 15 May. The main building is in Art Deco style, with a facing of Portland stone over a steel frame. It is a Listed building, Grade II* listed building and includes the BBC Radio Theatre, where music and speech programmes are recorded in front of a studio audience.
