EuroBasket 2013
EuroBasket 2013 was the 38th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe. It took place from 4 September until 22 September 2013 in Slovenia. The number of participating teams was 24. France defeated Lithuania in the final to win their first title. Tony Parker was named the tournament's MVP. Host selection Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Slovenia brought forward a potential candidature for the FIBA EuroBasket. Countries which were interested in submitting a formal candidature had to do so by . On , it was announced that only two countries, Slovenia and Italy had submitted formal bids. On , Italy announced its withdrawal from the run. The Basketball Federation of Slovenia (BFS) thus remained the only candidate organizer. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Nate James Reinking (born 12 December 1973) is a British-American professional basketball coach and former player, who is an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the coach of the Great Britain national team. Professional career Having graduated from Kent State University, Reinking came to England and signed with the British Basketball League club Leicester Riders in 1996. He averaged 18.3 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game in his first season for the Midlands team. In 1998, Nate joined Riders' rivals the Derby Storm, where he posted 17.9 points per game and 2.3 rebounds per game. Guy Goodes ( he, גיא גודס; born 13 March 1971) is an Israeli professional basketball coach and former player. He is currently the head coach of Hapoel Holon of the Israeli Premier League and the Israel national team. Professional career Goodes played as a point guard from 1994 to 2004, primarily with Maccabi Tel Aviv (1990–97 and 1998–99). He was on the Israel basketball national team from 1995 to 1999. Joe Prunty (born February 12, 1969) is an American professional basketball coach who is the lead assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Sutor Basket Montegranaro, is an amateur Italian basketball club based in Montegranaro, Marche. It plays in the Promozione (7th division) as of June 2015. It was formerly in the top division, with the 2013-14 season its last in Lega Basket Serie A before on and off the court issues led to the club leaving the professional world.
