Ethiopia–Somaliland Border
The Ethiopia–Somaliland border is almost as long as the one Ethiopia shares with Somalia, and Somaliland offers a buffer to Ethiopia against Al-Shabaab attack. Villages like Aleybedey are remote that lies to the border, and have semi-arid with a short rainy season, receiving about 650 millimeters of rain per year. Like Somalia, this border enjoyed vibrant economic interactions conducted by ethnically homogeneous Somalis. The 2010 Cayn clashes saw Somaliland forces viciously attack the Dulbahante clan militia in the Buuhoodle district. The battle was prompted by Ethiopian troops seizing a truck belonging to locals in Buhoodle, sparking a response from residents and Ethiopian retaliatory attack on Buuhoodle and a Somaliland attack upon Widhwidh. More clashes were reported to have occurred near Widhwidh on 19 July 2010. Anglo-Ethiopian Treaty Of 1897
The Anglo-Ethiopian Treaty of 1897 (sometimes called the Rodd Treaty) was an agreement negotiated between diplomat Sir Rennell Rodd of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and Emperor Menelik II of Ethiopia primarily involving border issues between Ethiopia and British Somaliland. It was signed on 14 May 1897 in order to "strengthen and render more effective and profitable the friendship between the two kingdoms", according to its preamble. Ethiopia–Somalia Border
The Ethiopia–Somalia boundary stretches 635,120 square kilometers, roughly the half size of Ethiopia, and more twice that of Italy. In the 19th century, both Britain and Italy contributed for shaping the modern border, on behalf of their colonies of British and Italian Somaliland. Somali people thus was ruled by Britain, French, Italian and Ethiopian rule. During World War II, Britain gained control of the Ogaden and Haud territories and returned to Ethiopia in 1954, but not delimited beyond the provisional line. Since 1960 independence, the border suffered serious skirmish involving both countries soldiers. The Districts of Somaliland (also known as local government districts) are second-level administrative subdivisions of Somaliland, below the level of region. There are a total of 22 district, each district is rated A, B, C, or D according to population, budget, and economic scale with the highest being A grade. The district where the state capital is located is always Class A (by Article 9 of the Local Government Law). Widhwidh, also known as Widh Widh, is a town located in the Buhoodle District, Buuhoodle district of Togdheer, Somaliland, Somaliland. Overview The settlement is located by road from Buuhoodle. The district was part of the 2010 Ayn clashes on 19 July 2010. The town is inhabited by the Barkad sub-clan of the Farah Garad branch of the Dhulbahante clan. On October 10, clan chiefs, intellectuals and the diaspora community from the Barkad sub-clan held a meeting in the Widh Widh District and voiced support for the Khatumo II Conference to be held in the Taleex District. Buuhoodle
Buuhoodle ( so, Buuhoodle, ar, بووهودل), also known as Bohotle, is the second largest city in the Togdheer region of Somaliland and also the capital of the Cayn region under Puntland. It is a prominent border town for movements of goods to and from Somaliland and the Somali Region of Ethiopia. The surrounding district is rich in both livestock and fledgeling agriculture. Territorial dispute Buuhoodle which is the second most important city for the Dhulbahante after Las Anod is under the control of local unionist militia.
