Estonia Men's National Basketball Team
The Estonia men's national basketball team () represents Estonia in international basketball matches. They are controlled by the Estonian Basketball Association. The team competed in their first international tournament at the 1936 Olympic Games. Estonia has also qualified for the EuroBasket six times overall, with their best results coming in 1937 and 1939. However, after 1939, Estonia halted national team activities due to the occupation of the Baltic states during World War II. Estonia would later rejoin FIBA in 1991, after regaining independence from the Soviet Union. Heiko Rannula
Heiko Rannula (born 28 July 1983) is an Estonian professional basketball coach and former player, who is currently a head coach for Legia Warsaw of the Polish Basketball League (PLK), and for Estonian National Team. Playing career Heiko Rannula graduated from Tartu Karlova Gymnasium in 2001. He started training with Jüri Neissaare. He has played in the Estonian youth (U16) and junior (U20) teams. He has also been a member of the Estonian National team. Rannula is the Estonian youth champion in the U16 and U20 age classes. He became the Estonian champion with Tartu team in 2001 and 2004, in addition to winning the Estonian Cup in 2002 and 2004. He played for several Estonian basketball clubs. EuroBasket 1993
The 1993 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1993, was the 28th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship, held by FIBA Europe. It was held in Germany between 22 June and 4 July 1993. Sixteen national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The cities of Berlin, Karlsruhe and Munich hosted the tournament. Hosts Germany won their first FIBA European title by defeating Russia with a 71–70 score in the final. FIBA EuroBasket 1993 Qualification
Qualification for the 1993 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1993 took place between 1 May 1991 and 7 June 1993. A total of thirteen teams qualified for the tournament, joining Italy, Spain and France ranked second, third and fourth in the 1991 edition. Yugoslavia as title holder was excluded from all international sport competitions because of sanctions against Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Format A total of 39 teams participated. Heino Veskila
Heino Veskila (14 December 1918 – 22 August 1941) was an Estonian basketball player who played for Tartu YMCA, Tartu EASK and Tartu Dünamo. He also represented the Estonia men's national basketball team internationally. Veskila competed for Estonia in the 1936 Summer Olympics in basketball. A record he set was being the youngest participant among all basketball players, at the age of 17. Despite his very young age, he averaged 13 points per game, including 20 against the USA, out of Estonia's total of 28. Veskila made the All-Tournament Team at the EuroBasket 1937 and was the leading scorer at the EuroBasket 1939, with 116 points in seven games.
