Eredivisie (women)
The Vrouwen Eredivisie (; Dutch for "Honour Division"; ''Eredivisie Vrouwen'' before 2020), also known as the Eurojackpot Vrouwen Eredivisie due to a sponsorship contract, is the highest women's football league in the Netherlands. Organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), it was established in 2007 as a professional league and played for five seasons until 2012, when the Netherlands and Belgium merged their leagues into a single combined league, the BeNe League. After three seasons, the BeNe League folded, and the Eredivisie restarted in the 2015–16 season. The top two Eredivisie teams each year qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League. The third place team qualifies for the UEFA Women's Europa Cup. Netherlands Women's National Football Team
The Netherlands women's national football team () represents the Netherlands in international Women's association football, women's football, and is directed by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), which is a member of UEFA and FIFA. KNVB
The Royal Dutch Football Association (, ; KNVB ) is the governing body of football in the Netherlands. It organises the main Dutch football leagues (Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie), the amateur leagues, the KNVB Cup, and the Dutch men's and women's national teams. For three seasons in the 2010s, the KNVB and its Belgian counterpart operated a joint top-level women's league, the BeNe League, until the two countries dissolved the league after the 2014–15 season and re-established their own top-level leagues. The ''Leeuwarder Courant'' is the oldest daily newspaper in the Netherlands. Founded by Abraham Ferwerda, it first appeared in 1752. The ''Leeuwarder Courant'' was the first paper in the Dutch province Friesland and its capital Leeuwarden. It is considered a "popular" (as opposed to "quality") newspaper. The Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau BV (ANP) is the largest news agency in the Netherlands. ANP was founded on 11 December 1934 by the association of Dutch newspapers (NDP). Willem II (women)
Willem II Vrouwen was the women's football section of Willem II football club from Tilburg, the Netherlands. They were founder members of the Eredivisie Vrouwen in 2007. In their first season, they finished second out of six teams, the highest finish they would have. The following season, the club was tied for first place entering its final match before losing to league champion AZ Alkmaar, 6–0. In February 2011, Willem II announced they were withdrawing support for their women's section for financial reasons. The women's club main sponsor had dropped its support for the team. FC Utrecht Vrouwen is the women's football section of Dutch club FC Utrecht based in Utrecht. Established in 2007, as one of the founding members of the professional Dutch women's Eredivisie. The team competed in the Eredivisie from its inaugural season of 2007–08 until 2011–12 and then in the BeNe League, made of up Belgian and Dutch teams, from 2012–13 until the team's dissolution in January 2014. SC Heerenveen Vrouwen is a Dutch women's football (soccer) club based in Heerenveen that competes in the Vrouwen Eredivisie, the top women's league in the Netherlands. Several of the top Dutch women footballers, including Lieke Martens, Vivianne Miedema, and Sherida Spitse, have played for the club. The club peaked in the league table with a third place finish in the 2017–18 season. AZ Alkmaar (women)
AZ or AZ Vrouwen is a women's association football club based in Alkmaar, the Netherlands. They are affiliated with the AZ men's team. They were founding members of the Eredivisie Vrouwen in 2007 and won the league's first three championships. In February 2011, AZ announced they were withdrawing support for their women's club for financial reasons. As AZ folded, Telstar fielded a team in the 2011–12 season, and most of the AZ players signed with the newly formed club. Telstar was replaced in the region by VV Alkmaar in 2017. In January 2022, AZ announced they were exploring restarting a women's club. Two months later, AZ announced they were going to financially support and were working closely with VV Alkmaar. ADO Den Haag (women)
ADO Den Haag Vrouwen is a Dutch football club based in The Hague representing ADO Den Haag in the Vrouwen Eredivisie, the top women's football league in the Netherlands. Founded in 2007, the club is a founding member of the league. It is one of only three clubs to play in every season of the top Dutch league and the short-lived BeNe League, along with FC Twente and sc Heerenveen. In 2012, ADO won its first and only national championship. They also achieved the double, winning the KNVB Women's Cup.
