The () or Kielstadion () was built as the main stadium for the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp. Equestrian At The 1920 Summer Olympics
The equestrian events at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp included eventing, show jumping, vaulting and dressage. The competitions were held from 6 to 12 September 1920. Although 89 riders were competing, many rode in more than one event, with 87 entries total (45 jumping, 17 dressage, 25 eventing). Vaulting was also held, its one appearance at an Olympic Games, with only Belgium, France and Sweden fielding teams. Disciplines Dressage The requirements for the dressage test remained the same as for the 1912 Games. Team dressage medals were not distributed. Show jumping The show jumping competition held both its individual and team competitions on the same day, and riders in the team event could not compete for an individual medal. Therefore, 10 riders total (5 teams and 5 individual) could be sent for the jumping competition, although only Italy and Sweden were able to field that many riders. Vincent Erwin
Vincent Erwin (August 9, 1887 – March 15, 1967) was an American equestrian. He competed in the team jumping event at the 1920 Summer Olympics. Early life Vincent P. Erwin was born on August 9, 1887, in Chapman, Kansas to Ellen (née McGrath) and John Erwin. His father was one of the first settlers of Chapman and worked as a postmaster and ranch operator. Erwin graduated from Dickinson County High School in Dickinson County, Kansas in 1906. Senator Chester I. Long selected Erwin to attend the United States Naval Academy in 1907. He was captain of the second squad of the Navy Midshipmen football team and a member of the first team of the Navy Midshipmen baseball team. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1911. Following graduation, Erwin attended Fort Riley's cavalry school and completed a course. Career In 1920, Erwin attended the 1920 Summer Olympics as part of the team jumping equestrian event. Harry Chamberlin
Harry Dwight Chamberlin (May 19, 1887 – September 29, 1944) was a career officer in the United States Army. A veteran of the Moro Rebellion, Pancho Villa Expedition, World War I, and World War II, he attained the rank of brigadier general, and was most notable for his command of several Cavalry units, including 1st Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, the Cavalry Replacement Center at Fort Riley, and 4th Cavalry Brigade, 2nd Cavalry Division. During World War II, he commanded the New Hebrides Task Force, Southwestern Security District, and Fort Ord. Chamberlin was also a notable equestrian, and participated in several Olympic games.
