Environmentalism is a broad philosophy, ideology, and social movement about supporting life, habitats, and surroundings. An ecological or environmental crisis occurs when changes to the environment of a species or population destabilizes its continued survival. The conservation movement, also known as nature conservation, is a political, environmental, and social movement that seeks to manage and protect natural resources, including animal, fungus, and plant species as well as their habitat for the future. Level of analysis is used in the social sciences to point to the location, size, or scale of a research target. It is distinct from unit of observation in that the former refers to a more or less integrated set of relationships while the latter refers to the distinct unit from which data have been or will be gathered.
