A cricket team from England organised by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) toured India from 3 January to 24 February 1964. John Mortimore (cricketer)
John Brian Mortimore (14 May 1933 – 13 February 2014) was an English cricketer, who played in nine Tests for England from 1959 to 1964, and captained Gloucestershire between 1965 and 1967. Career His county colleague and fellow off-spinner, David Allen, spun the ball more than Mortimore, but “Morty” was able to coax county batsmen with cunning and pin-point accuracy, which often led to their downfall. He was sent out as a replacement for Peter May's struggling team in the 1958-59 Ashes series, and topped the batting averages by dint of being out only once in the series, 55 runs (55.00). Unfortunately, at the time England was awash with capable off-spinners who could bat; Ray Illingworth, Fred Titmus and Allen all averaged 20–25 with the bat, and 30-32 per wicket with the ball, and this restricted Mortimore's Test appearances. Eden Gardens is an international cricket stadium in Kolkata (Calcutta), India. Established in 1864, it is the oldest and second-largest cricket stadium in India and third-largest in the world. David Larter
John David Frederick Larter (born 24 April 1940, Inverness, Scotland) is a former Scottish cricketer, who played in ten Tests for England from 1962 to 1965. The cricket writer, Colin Bateman, noted, "David Larter was a complex character. There were days at Northampton when he just would not fancy bowling. But when the mood took him and his 6ft 7in physique was in perfect working order, he was a frighteningly good fast bowler, as a career record of 666 wickets at 19 apiece suggests". Ramakant Desai
Ramakant Bhikaji Desai (20 June 1939 in Bombay – 27 April 1998 in Mumbai) was an Indian cricketer who represented India in Test cricket as a fast bowler from 1959 to 1968. Ramakant Desai was an Indian fast bowler, who stood 5 feet 4 inches tall, earning him the nickname "Tiny". He made his Test debut against West Indies in 1958–59 took 4/169 in 49 overs. He troubled the batsmen with bouncers, which was unusual for an Indian bowler at the time. He toured England in 1959, West Indies in 1961–62 and Australia and New Zealand in 1967–68. Against Pakistan in 1960–61, he took 21 wickets in the series. At Bombay, he scored a quick 85 batting at No.10, an Indian record, and added a record 149 for the ninth wicket with Nana Joshi. Brabourne Stadium
The Brabourne Stadium is an international cricket stadium in Mumbai in Western India, built in the British Bombay era. It is the home ground of the Mumbai men's and Mumbai women's cricket team, women's cricket teams. It can accommodate 50,000 people for sports matches.
