England Men's National Lacrosse Team
The England men's national lacrosse team is one of the premier national teams in Europe and the world having competed at every World Lacrosse Championship since its inception in 1967 and having won all but one of the European Lacrosse Championships. Currently the team is ranked 5th in the world. The team is governed by England Lacrosse which has been a full member of World Lacrosse since 1972. History The England men's national team has played in every World Lacrosse Championship since 1967, earning a silver medal in 1974. The last world championship to be held in England was the 2010 World Lacrosse Championship, in Manchester, England, where they placed 5th. Rutgers Scarlet Knights Men's Lacrosse
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights men's lacrosse team represents Rutgers University main campus in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college lacrosse. The program first started at the varsity level in 1887. The coach is currently Brian Brecht, who is in his eighth year at that position and who joined Rutgers after previously coaching at Siena College. The team plays its home games at SHI Stadium. On July 1, 2014, Rutgers joined the Big Ten Conference in all sports. History Rutgers began playing lacrosse in 1887. The team lasted 3 years, folding in 1889 after it 2–1 season. High Point Panthers Men's Lacrosse
The High Point Panthers Men's Lacrosse team is a college lacrosse team that represents High Point University in High Point, North Carolina, High Point, North Carolina, United States. The school's teams are typically members of the Big South Conference, but due to the Big South not sponsoring Men's lacrosse, the HPU men's lacrosse team has had to play as associate members of other conferences. It had played in the Atlantic Sun Conference, now known as the ASUN Conference, in the 2014 season, moving to the Southern Conference (SoCon) after that season when the SoCon took over operation of the ASUN men's lacrosse league. Providence Friars Men's Lacrosse
The Providence Friars men's lacrosse team represents Providence College in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college lacrosse. The program was created in 1980 and plays its home games at Anderson Stadium. The Friars have competed in the Big East men's lacrosse conference since 2010, previously competing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. 2010 World Lacrosse Championship
The 2010 World Lacrosse Championship was held between 15–24 July. This international men's field lacrosse tournament organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse took place in Manchester, United Kingdom. This was the third time that the tournament was played in Greater Manchester, after the 1978 and 1994 championships. The United States captured their ninth gold medal, defeating Canada 12–10 in the championship game. Paul Rabil of Team USA was named tournament MVP. Australia earned its fourth-straight bronze medal by defeating Japan 16 –9. A record 29 nations competed at the event, eight more than the 2006 WLC in London, Ontario. World Lacrosse (WL), formerly the Federation of International Lacrosse, is the international governing body of lacrosse, responsible for the men's, women's, and indoor versions of the sport.
