Emo's
Emo's is a music and event venue located in Austin, Texas. Emo's got its start as a Houston punk club in 1989, with the Austin location opening in 1992. The Houston location closed its doors in September 2001. The nightclub is an official South by Southwest Music Festival venue, during which it consists of four stages. The annual Emissions from the Monolith festival relocated to Emo's in 2007. The club closed in December 2011 for reasons unknown, however in September of that same year, a new venue opened up on East Riverside, on the site of the old Back Room venue. On February 11, 2013, Emo's announced they were being sold to C3 Presents, the booking agent/production company behind Austin City Limits Festival and Lollapalooza, among other endeavors. Emissions From The Monolith
Emissions from the Monolith was an annual heavy metal music, heavy metal festival that primarily featured doom metal and sludge metal bands, and was widely considered to be the premier heavy/doom/sludge metal festival in the US. The festival was entirely organized by Greg Barratt at the nyabinghi in Youngstown, Ohio. The festival completed its ninth and final year in 2007, at Emo's, in Austin, Texas. Fugazi (; ) is an American post-hardcore band formed in Washington, D.C., in 1986. Devo
Devo is an American new wave band from Akron, Ohio, formed in 1973. Their classic line-up consisted of two sets of brothers, the Mothersbaughs ( Mark and Bob) and the Casales (Gerald and Bob), along with Alan Myers. The band had a No. 14 ''Billboard'' chart hit in 1980 with the single " Whip It", the song that gave the band mainstream popularity. Edie Brickell & New Bohemians is an American alternative rock jam band that originated in Dallas, Texas, in the mid-1980s. Lollapalooza () is an annual American four-day music festival held in Grant Park (Chicago), Grant Park in Chicago. Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival is an annual music festival that takes place in Zilker Park in Austin, Texas, on two consecutive three-day weekends and is inspired by the KLRU/PBS music series ''Austin City Limits''. South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas.
