Embassy Of Uruguay, Buenos Aires
The Embassy of Uruguay in Buenos Aires is the chief diplomatic mission of Uruguay in Argentina. Since 2018 the Embassy has been located in a building on the edge of the Recoleta and Retiro neighborhoods. The current Uruguayan Ambassador to Argentina is Carlos Enciso Christiansen. History In 1982 the embassy was opened in a nine-story building on Las Heras Avenue in the Recoleta neighborhood. However, in 2012, President José Mujica ordered the relocation of the mission, alleging high maintenance costs for the building. The functions of the embassy were transferred to the residence of the ambassador, while the consulate was installed in the building of the Buenos Aires branch of Banco de la República Oriental del Uruguay. Since June 19, 2018, the embassy and consulate general have operated in their current location, in a neoclassical building built in 1913. Recoleta is a ''barrio'' or neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, located in the northern part of the city, by the Río de la Plata. The area is perhaps best known to be the home of the distinguished Recoleta Cemetery. Retiro is a ''barrio'' or neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Located in the northeast end of the city, Retiro is bordered on the south by the Puerto Madero and San Nicolás, Buenos Aires, San Nicolás, and on the west by the Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Recoleta. José Mujica
José Alberto "Pepe" Mujica Cordano (20May 193513May 2025) was a Uruguayan politician, revolutionary and farmer who served as the 40th president of Uruguay from 2010 to 2015. A former guerrilla with the Tupamaros, he was tortured and imprisoned for 14 years during the military dictatorship in the 1970s and 1980s. Villa del Parque is a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood) or district within the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Its name translates as Village of the Park and was derived from its earliest beginnings, when several haciendas were all that existed, alongside a growing agricultural park in this section of Buenos Aires Province. Nowadays Villa del Parque is a middle class suburban neighbourhood, though with a central area in Cuenca street with many shops.
