Saint Elli
Saint Elli was a 6th-century Welsh saint, or possibly two saints. Llanelli in Carmarthenshire and Llanelly in Monmouthshire are both named after Elli. There are traditions about a male saint Elli and a female saint Elli, and there are depictions of a male and of a female saint. According to one legend, Elli or Ellyw was a daughter or granddaughter of King Brychan. Elli founded a church on the banks of the River Lliedi, which attracted peasants who settled nearby. This community became the town of Llanelli in Carmarthenshire. A different account is given in the 11th century ''Vita Cadoci'' (life of Cadoc), which says that Elli was the son of the Queen of the Islands of Grimbul, and the foster son of Saint Cadoc. When travelling in foreign lands, Cadoc landed on the islands of Grimbul. Grimbul's queen was barren, but after Cadoc interceded for her she bore a son, Elli, who she entrusted to the care of Cadoc. Elli-class Frigate
The ''Elli''-class frigates are a series of frigates operated by the Hellenic Navy. The ships are of Dutch origin and are also known as or ''Standard-class'' or ''S-class'' frigates. The first two ships (''Elli'' and ''Limnos''), which have lengthened hangars and different armament were built specifically for the Hellenic Navy. The remaining ships are ex-Royal Netherlands Navy S-frigates of the ''Kortenaer'' class transferred to the Hellenic Navy in the 1990s and early 2000s. These robust and reliable ships constitute the backbone of the Hellenic Navy. , for which the class is named, is itself named after two famous Greek cruisers, one of which was sunk during peacetime before the Greco-Italian War. Battle Of Elli
The Battle of Elli (, ) or the Battle of the Dardanelles took place near the mouth of the Dardanelles on as part of the First Balkan War between the fleets of the Kingdom of Greece and the Ottoman Empire. It was the largest sea battle of the Balkan Wars. Background Since the start of the war the Royal Hellenic Navy acted aggressively, while the Ottoman Navy remained in the Dardanelles. Rear Admiral Pavlos Kountouriotis landed at Lemnos, while the Greek fleet captured a series of islands. On 24 October (O.S.), Kountouriotis sent a telegram to the Ottoman admiral: ''"We have captured Tenedos. We await the exit of your fleet. If you need coal, I can supply you."'' On 3 December (OS), the Ottoman fleet left the Dardanelles. Roger Hollis
Sir Roger Henry Hollis (2 December 1905 – 26 October 1973) was a British intelligence officer who served with MI5 from 1938 to 1965. He was Director General of MI5 from 1956 to 1965. Some commentators, including the journalist Chapman Pincher and intelligence officer Peter Wright, suggested that Hollis was a Soviet agent. Elli Medeiros (born 18 January 1956) is a Uruguayan-French singer and actress. Career Stinky Toys Originally from Uruguay, Medeiros moved to Paris, France, at the age of 14, dropped out of high school a couple of years later and joined the punk rock, punk band Stinky toys, Stinky Toys. Alberto Elli
Alberto Elli (born 9 March 1964) is an Italian former road racing cyclist, who wore the yellow jersey for 4 days in the 2000 Tour de France. Elli was called up late for the 2000 Tour de France, and after a group of 12 cyclists stayed away from the others, Elli became a surprise leader, being the second oldest cyclist in the peloton. He kept the yellow jersey until the Pyrenées mountains, where he lost it to Lance Armstrong. After retiring, he worked as a directeur sportif for several professional teams. During the 2001 Giro d'Italia, the police found banned substances in Elli's hotel room. In October 2005, he received a six-month suspended sentence by San Remo Judge Paolo Luppi.
