Elevenplay is a Japanese dance troupe noted for their incorporation of advanced technologies into their works. It is headed by director and principal choreographer Mikiko. Performances Elevenplay collaborated with Rhizomatiks to produce a piece called ''Shadow'', which used three drones, a spotlight, and a dancer. Mikiko (choreographer)
Mikiko Mizuno (born 11 August 1977), known professionally as simply Mikiko or Mikikometal (both stylized in all caps), is a Japanese dancer and choreographer. She is the director and principal choreographer of the high-tech dance troupe Elevenplay, and also works with performers such as Perfume, Sakura Gakuin, and Babymetal. She was a production consultant and choreographer for Tokyo's handover presentation at the 2016 Summer Olympics closing ceremony. Early life Mikiko was born in Tokyo, Japan. The youngest of three sisters, her family moved to Hiroshima when she was two years old due to her father's job transfer. Rhizomatiks
Rhizomatiks is a Japanese creative collective dedicated to creating large scale commercial and artistic projects using both arts and technology. Founded in 2006, the company's members come largely from the fields of visual arts, media arts, computer programming, architecture and engineering. Rhizomatiks has collaborated with various professionals and companies to produce music, dance recitals, videos, and sports such as a figure skate, facing, basketball and synchronized swimming. It gained attention in 2008, with Daito Manabe's YouTube video, and in 2010 with Perfume's live concert at Tokyo Dome as well as its participation in Ars Electronica and transmedia festivals around the world. Festival Internacional Cervantino
The Festival Internacional Cervantino (FIC), popularly known as ''El Cervantino'', is a festival which takes place each fall in the city of Guanajuato, located in central Mexico. The festival originates from the mid 20th century, when short plays by Miguel de Cervantes called '' entremeses'' (singular ''entremés'') were performed in the city's plazas. Projection Mapping
Projection mapping, similar to video mapping and spatial augmented reality, is a video projection, projection technique used to turn objects, often irregularly shaped, into display surfaces for video projection. The objects may be complex industrial landscapes, such as buildings, small indoor objects, or theatrical stages. Using specialized software, a two- or three-dimensional object is spatially mapped on the virtual program which mimics the real environment it is to be projected on. The software can then interact with a projector to fit any desired image onto the surface of that object. The technique is used by artists and advertisers who can add extra dimensions, optical illusions, and notions of movement onto previously static objects.
