Since its founding in 1990, elections within the Social Democratic Party of Croatia were held numerous times. 2007 leadership election The Social Democratic Party of Croatia 2007 leadership election following the death of longtime leader Ivica Račan was held on 2 June 2007. Deputy leader Željka Antunović served as the acting leader and ran for a full term. Little known party spokesperson Zoran Milanović ran as an outsider and reformist promising much needed modernization of the party. Other candidates included Zagreb mayor Milan Bandić and former Foreign Affairs Minister Tonino Picula. Milanović pulled out an unexpected win in the first ballot, but failed to achieve an outright majority. He defeated Antunović in the second ballot and became the leader of the party. The Social Democratic Party of Croatia (, SDP) is a Social democracy, social democratic political party in Croatia. Davor Bernardić
Davor Bernardić (born 5 January 1980) is a Croatian physicist and politician who served as the president of the Social Democratic Party from 2016 to 2020. He also served as one of four SDP vice-presidents, leader of the SDP's Zagreb branch, and president of the SDP Youth Forum. Bernardić has been elected to the Croatian Parliament five times, representing the 1st electoral district. Mirando Mrsić (born 14 October 1959) is a Croatian physician and politician who served as a Minister of Labour and Pension System in the centre left Government of Zoran Milanović from 23 December 2011 until 22 January 2016. Mrsić was born in Split on 14 October 1959. After finishing elementary and high school in Makarska, he enrolled at the Zagreb School of Medicine from which he graduated in 1983. Parliamentary elections were held in Croatia on 17 April 2024 to elect the members of the 11th Sabor. Peđa Grbin (born 24 May 1979) is a Croatian lawyer and politician who served as president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) from 2020 to 2024.
