Election Commissioners of Bangladesh (), publicly referred to as EC, are members of Bangladesh Election Commission, who are bestowed upon the responsibility to arrange and oversee the conduct of free and fair national and regional elections, empowered by the commission. Article 118 of the Constitution of Bangladesh, Bangladeshi constitution instructs the state to organise an independent agency, which will be free of political and government influences, consisting of one Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh, Chief Election Commissioner and four more assisting Election Commissioners with direct approval of the state President (government title), president. Muhammed Sohul Hussain
Muhammed Sohul Hussain is a former election commissioner of Bangladesh who served during the 2006–2008 Bangladeshi political crisis. In 2022, he was part of the search committee created to appoint new election commissioners. Career Hussain was the secretary at the Ministry of Law. M Sakhawat Hussain (born 1 February 1948) is a Bangladeshi author, researcher and former one star army officer. He was the Election Commissioner of Bangladesh from 2007 to 2012 and retired from the Bangladesh Army as a brigadier general. He wrote more than 32 books, and serves as a columnist and freelance commentator on national and international television as a security and defense analyst. Mahbub Talukdar (13 February 1942 – 24 August 2022) was a Bangladeshi poet, writer, civil servant, and one of the Election Commissioners of Bangladesh. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2012 for his contribution in juvenile literature. He was a Freedom Fighter and joined the exiled government in 1971.
