El Camp De L'Arpa Del Clot
El Camp de l'Arpa del Clot (name designated in 2006) is one of the ten neighborhoods of Barcelona which compose the district of '' Sant Martí'', Catalonia (Spain). It was annexed by Barcelona in the year 1897. It is situated in the upper part of this district and before it was named Camp de l'Arca. Etymology The name of Camp de l'Arpa is probably derived from the existence of a dolmen in this area. This dolmen was cited in a document of the year 1037 in an official document of Sant Cugat, with the Latin phrase "ad ipsa archa", in a dispute of the limits. The current name would be a linguistic deformation of the original. History Camp de L'Arpa, a part of the original neighborhood of Muntanya (mountain in Catalan) of Sant Martí de Provençals, was started to be built in 1845 without being included later in Cerdà's urban plan. Sant Cugat Del Vallès
Sant Cugat del Vallès () is a town and municipality north of Barcelona, Catalonia. Known as ''Castrum Octavianum'' in antiquity (which means ''the castle of Octavianus'') and as ''Pins del Vallès'' during the Second Spanish Republic, it is named after Saint Cucuphas, who is said to have been martyred on the spot now occupied by its medieval monastery. Elies Rogent
Elies Rogent i Amat (Barcelona 18 July 1821 – Barcelona 21 February 1897), was a Catalan architect of Spanish nationality. Life and work He studied at the school of Architecture in Madrid, from which he graduated on 20 February 1851. Anthony Mary Claret, (born Antoni Maria Claret i Clarà; ; December 23, 1807 – October 24, 1870) was a Spanish Catholic prelate and missionary who served as Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba and was the confessor of Isabella II of Spain. Avinguda Meridiana () is a major avenue in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, spanning parts of the Sant Andreu, Nou Barris and Sant Martí (district), Sant Martí northern districts of Barcelona, districts of the city. Eixample
The Eixample (, ) is a district of Barcelona between the old city (Ciutat Vella) and what were once surrounding small towns (Sants, Gràcia, Sant Andreu, etc.), constructed in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Its population was 262,000 at the last census (2005). Architecture and design The Eixample is characterized by long straight streets, a strict grid pattern crossed by wide avenues, and square blocks with chamfer#architecture, chamfered corners (named ''illes'' in Catalan, ''manzanas'' in Spanish). This was a visionary, pioneering design by Ildefons Cerdà, who considered traffic and transport along with sunlight and ventilation in coming up with his characteristic octagonal blocks, where the streets broaden at every intersection making for greater visibility, better ventilation and (today) some short-term parking areas. Ildefons Cerdà Sunyer (; ; 23 December 1815, Centelles (Catalonia) – 21 August 1876, Caldas de Besaya (Cantabria)) was a Spanish urban planner and civil engineer who designed the 19th-century "extension" of Barcelona called the ''Eixample''. Because of his extensive theoretical and practical work, he is considered the founder of modern town planning as a discipline, having coined the word "urbanization".
