The People's Revolutionary Army (, abbreviated as ERP) was the military branch of the Communism, communist Workers Revolutionary Party (Argentina), Workers' Revolutionary Party (, PRT) in Argentina. History Origins The ERP was founded as the armed wing of the PRT, a communist party emerging from the Trotskyist tradition, but soon turned to the Maoist theory, especially the Cultural Revolution. During the 1960s, the PRT adopted the ''foco, foquista'' strategy of Guerrilla warfare, guerilla warfare associated with Che Guevara, who had fought alongside Fidel Castro during the Cuban Revolution. The People's Revolutionary Army (, ERP) was a small Marxist guerrilla organization in Colombia. The group originated in the municipality of Venadillo, Tolima Department in c. 1985 as a splinter group of the National Liberation Army and was commanded by its founder Édgar Castellanos, a.k.a. "Gonzalo" until his death in January 2007. The group became a military objective of paramilitary.
