The Egypt Cup (also known as the Egyptian FA Cup and formerly as the King Farouk Cup) is the main knockout football cup competition in Egypt. It is the oldest club competition in Africa. The first team to win the trophy was Zamalek in 1922. Al Ahly hold the record of total number of titles with a total of 39 titles, Zamalek also holds the record of being the only club to win the title for 4 consecutive years twice; from 1957 to 1960 and 2013 up to 2016. History The Egypt Cup is the oldest tournament in the history of Egyptian football that is still being held to-date, and it is the first competition to be organized by the Egyptian Football Association. Egyptian Super Cup
The Egyptian Super Cup is Football in Egypt, Egyptian football's annual match contested between the champions of the Egyptian Premier League season and the holders of the Egypt Cup. If the Egyptian Premier League champions also won the Egypt Cup then the cup runners-up provide the opposition. The competition was founded in 2001, the first team to win the trophy was Zamalek SC. From the 2023-24 season the tournament is characterized by a new format, four teams will compete instead of the usual two teams. Cairo Derby
The Cairo derby () or the Top Match (), known as the Arab Classico () is a rivalry between Egyptian Association football, football clubs Al Ahly SC, Al Ahly and Zamalek SC, Zamalek, arguably the two most successful clubs in Egypt and Africa. Al Ahly and Zamalek were named by the Confederation of African Football, CAF as the 1st and 2nd African clubs of the 20th century respectively. It is considered one of the fiercest sports encounters, and its matches attract a large audience. This match is known for its intensity since 1917 until today. Abdel-Karim Sakr
Abdel-Karim Ezzat Sakr (; born 8 November 1918 – 5 March 1994) was an Egyptian football forward who played for Egypt and Zamalek. He played most of his career with Zamalek, and achieved 14 titles with the club. Starting his professional career with Al Ahly, he is the all-time top-scorer of the Cairo Derby, with 19 goals (10 goals for Zamalek and 9 goals for Al Ahly). Sakr is the only player to score in both derbies ending with the largest score in history, as Zamalek defeated Al Ahly with a score of 6–0 twice, in the 1941–42 Cairo League and the 1944 Egypt Cup Final, respectively. Career Sakr joined Al Ahly, he scored hattrick in his first match against Zamalek to be the second player to score hattrick in the history of the Cairo Derby in 1937, the match ended 5-0 for Al Ahly and El Tetsh scored the other two goals. A hat-trick or hat trick is the achievement of a generally positive feat three times in a match, or another achievement based on the number three. Origin The term first appeared in 1858 in cricket, to describe H. H. Stephenson taking three Wicket#Dismissing a batsman, wickets with three consecutive delivery (cricket), deliveries. Fans held a collection for Stephenson, and presented him with a hat bought with the proceeds. The term was used in print for the first time in 1865 in the Essex Chronicle, ''Chelmsford Chronicle''. Mahmoud Hafez
Mahmoud Hafez ( 10 August 1918 – 2 May 1989) commonly known as Zoklot (), was an Egyptian professional footballer. He played for El-Zamalek and Egypt. He was also a fighter pilot in the Egyptian Air Force. Biography Zoklot was born on 10 August 1918 in Cairo. He started his professional career in 1936 with Tersana. In 1938, he moved to Zamalek, and spent the rest of his career with the Cairo giants. He won with Zamalek 1938 Egypt Cup in his first season with the team. He also won with the White Castle the 1939–40 Cairo League followed 1940–41 Cairo League and the 1941 Egypt Cup. Zoklot is mostly known for his famous hat-trick against Al Ahly in the Cairo derby which took place in the 1944 Egypt Cup final. This was the highest scoring result in the history of the derby to date. Zoklot won with Zamalek the Cairo League for six times and three titles of the Egypt Cup.
