Ederney St Joseph's GAC
Ederney St Joseph's is a Gaelic football club based in the village of Ederney, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. History The club was first founded in May 1929, and went through various incarnations before winning their first Fermanagh Senior Football Championship title in 1968, beating Newtownbutler by 3–7 to 2–6. In 2004, Martin McGrath became Ederney's first All Star. Ederney reached the county finals in both 2006 and 2018, losing heavily to Enniskillen Gaels and Derrygonnelly Harps respectively. After a fifty-two year wait the club finally added its second senior championship in 2020, beating Derrygonnelly 2–8 to 1–6 in the final. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Martin McGrath (Gaelic Footballer)
Martin McGrath is a Gaelic footballer who plays for the Ederney St Joseph's club and was a member of the Fermanagh county team from 1999 to 2013. Playing career McGrath made his debut for the Ederney senior team in 1995, aged just fourteen. On St Patrick's Day 1999, McGrath played in midfield for St Michael's College, Enniskillen in the MacRory Cup final against St Colman's College, Newry, scoring a point in the 4-11 to 0-12 win. McGrath made his Fermanagh debut under Pat King in the winter of 1999, and was a substitute on the team that won the All-Ireland B title in 2000. McGrath captained Queen's University Belfast to two consecutive Sigerson Cup finals in 2004 and 2005, but lost on both occasions to IT Sligo. McGrath's career highlight was the All Star he received in 2004. He also won a senior and intermediate championship with his club and a Railway Cup with Ulster. The Gaelic Athletic Association-Gaelic Players' Association All Stars Awards (often known simply as the All Stars) are awarded annually to the best player in each of the 15 playing positions in Gaelic football and hurling. Additionally, one player in each code is selected as Player of the Year. The awards were instituted in 1971. 2018 Fermanagh Senior Football Championship
The 2018 Fermanagh Senior Football Championship was the 112th edition of the Fermanagh GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior clubs in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. The tournament consists of 8 teams, with the winner representing Fermanagh in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship had a straight knock-out format. Derrygonnelly Harps were the defending champions for the third year running after they defeated St. Mary's in the previous years final. This season marked Belcoo O'Rahillys return to the senior grade after claiming the 2017 I.F.C. However at the end of the season they were relegated back to the I.F.C. for 2019 after failing to win a match. Enniskillen Gaels GAC
Enniskillen Gaels is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in based in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. History The club completed a six-in-a-row of Fermanagh titles between 1998 and 2003. Gaels reached the final of the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship twice during this period, losing to Crossmaglen Rangers in 1999 and to Errigal Ciarán in 2002. The bid for seven championships in a row was ended by Derrygonnelly Harps in the 2004 county final. That great team went on to win one further county title in 2006. The club went into decline over the next decade, and by 2016, were on the brink of relegation to Junior football, scraping through a relegation play-off. Derrygonnelly Harps GFC
Derrygonnelly Harps is a Gaelic football club from Derrygonnelly in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, founded in 1924. The club participates in Fermanagh competitions and has won the Fermanagh Senior Football Championship nine times. The club colours are purple and yellow. The name Derrygonnelly (Doire Ó gConaile), when translated, means ‘The Oak Wood of O’Connolly’. The Harps playing complex is about half a mile outside the village. Canon Maguire Park comprises the main playing field, a full size training pitch, a spacious changing room complex, a meeting room and a covered stand (Fermanagh’s first, opened in 1999).
