Duvaucel's Gecko
Duvaucel's gecko (''Hoplodactylus duvaucelii'') is a species of lizard in the family Diplodactylidae. The species is endemic to New Zealand. Geographic range ''H. duvaucelii'' is found on predator-free offshore islands of New Zealand, including Great Barrier Island and a number of Cook Strait islands. In March 2010 a Duvaucel's gecko was caught in a trap at the nature reserve Maungatautari, indicating that it is likely not extinct from mainland New Zealand. Genetic analysis confirmed that this gecko specimen represents a relic mainland population. Description ''H. duvaucelii'' may attain a total length (including tail) of up to , with a snout-to-vent length (SVL) up to , weighing up to 120 grams (4.2 ounces), making it the largest living gecko in New Zealand. André Marie Constant Duméril
André Marie Constant Duméril (1 January 1774 – 14 August 1860) was a French zoologist. He was professor of anatomy at the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle from 1801 to 1812, when he became professor of herpetology and ichthyology. His son Auguste Duméril was also a zoologist. Life André Marie Constant Duméril was born on 1 January 1774 in Amiens and died on 14 August 1860 in Paris. He became a doctor at a young age, obtaining, at 19 years, the ''prévot'' of anatomy at the medical school of Rouen. In 1800, he left for Paris and collaborated in the drafting of the comparative anatomy lessons of Georges Cuvier. He replaced Cuvier at the Central School of the Panthéon and had, as his colleague, Alexandre Brongniart. In 1801, he gave courses to the medical school of Paris. The ''Waikato Times'' is a daily newspaper published in Hamilton, New Zealand and owned by media business Stuff Ltd. It has a circulation to the greater Waikato region and became a tabloid paper in 2018. The newspaper has won the title of New Zealand Newspaper of the Year (in the category of up to 30,000 circulation) for two consecutive years: 2018 and 2019. History The ''Waikato Times'' started out as the tri-weekly ''Waikato Times and Thames Valley Gazette'', first published by George Jones on 2 May 1872 in Ngāruawāhia but moved to Hamilton in 1875. It was then managed by Messrs Langbridge, Silver, E. M. Edgecumbe, George Edgecumbe and J. S. Bond, who ran a book and stationery shop and changed the Times from tri-weekly to a penny daily in 1896, using Press Association news.
