Disclaimer (Seether Album)
''Disclaimer'' is the debut studio album by South African rock band Seether. The album was released on 20 August 2002. It features three successful singles which would remain some of the band's most well-known songs. It is their first release under their current name after changing it from ''Saron Gas'' in 2002 to avoid confusion with the deadly nerve agent sarin gas. Background and release A great deal of pre-production took place in South Africa with supervision from a Wind-up representative. It continued in New York City before the album recording sessions began in Los Angeles. Veteran session drummer Josh Freese filled the role in the studio before an audition took place at Leads Rehearsal Studio. Among sixteen others, Nick Oshiro auditioned and joined the band in 2001. Seether would also enlist guitarist Patrick Callahan in the fall of that year after performing alongside his then-current band in Philadelphia. Seether
Seether are a South African rock band founded in 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. The band originally performed under the name Saron Gas until 2002, when they moved to the United States and changed it to Seether to avoid confusion with the deadly chemical known as sarin gas. Lead vocalist and guitarist Shaun Morgan is the band's longest serving member, bassist Dale Stewart joined shortly after formation while drummer John Humphrey joined them for the band's second album. Since 2018, the band has been employing second guitarist Corey Lowery. Several notable guitarists like Corey's brother Clint and Troy McLawhorn have toured or recorded with the band, however, Shaun has recorded most guitar parts for the band's records. Patrick Callahan
Pat Callahan is a guitarist, best known for his work with the band Seether from October 2002 to June 2006. During his career with Seether, Callahan received gold records for the band's successful work on the albums ''Disclaimer'', ''Disclaimer II'', ''Karma and Effect'', ''The Punisher'' movie soundtrack, the '' Daredevil'' movie soundtrack, and has received a platinum award in Australia for the single, " Broken". Since quitting Seether, Callahan has spent time working with children in a Philadelphia music school called the Music Training Center. He has also played and toured with Metallica, Evanescence, Audioslave, Green Day, Staind, Breaking Benjamin, Slipknot, 3 Doors Down, Shinedown, Def Leppard, and Lionel Richie. The ''Billboard'' 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. It is published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine and is frequently used to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the in the American Pacific Northwest state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, but without punk's structure and speed. The genre featured the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, although some bands performed with more emphasis on one or the other. Like these genres, grunge typically uses electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals. Grunge also incorporates influences from indie rock bands such as Sonic Youth. "Broken" is a song by South African rock band Seether, first appearing on their debut album, ''Disclaimer'' (2002). It was reworked and recorded again in 2004, this time featuring American singer Amy Lee, the lead singer of Evanescence and then-girlfriend of Seether vocalist Shaun Morgan. It was included on the soundtrack to the 2004 Marvel Comics superhero film ''The Punisher'', and was also on Seether's second studio album, ''Disclaimer II''. Shaun Morgan Welgemoed (, born 21 December 1978) is a South African musician. He is the singer, songwriter, and guitarist for the rock band Seether.
