David Brown (17 August 1803 in Aberdeen – 3 July 1897 in Aberdeen) was a son of bookseller who was twice Provost of the city. He was a Free Church of Scotland minister who served as Moderator of the General Assembly 1885/86. He was co-author of the Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary on the whole Bible. Life He was born in Aberdeen in 1803 the fourth son of Alexander Brown, a bookseller, and twice Lord Provost of Aberdeen, and his wife, Catharine Chalmers. He was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School. David Brown (1763–1812) was an English chaplain in Bengal and founder of the Calcutta Bible Society. Life He was born in Yorkshire, and was educated first under private tuition at Scarborough, North Yorkshire, Scarborough, and then at a grammar school at Hull under Joseph Milner (priest), Joseph Milner. He entered Magdalene College, Cambridge in 1782. Brown did not take a degree, but was ordained deacon in the Church of England in 1785, by Richard Watson (bishop), Richard Watson. David O'Neal Brown (born September 18, 1960) is an American police officer who is currently serving as Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department. He was the chief of the Dallas Police Department from 2010 to 2016. David Brown (1740–1812) was convicted of sedition because of his criticism of the United States federal government and received the harshest sentence for anyone under the Sedition Act of 1798 for erecting the Dedham Liberty Pole. Brown was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War. At the time, Brown went throughout the towns arguing against the newly formed national United States government.
