Dúbravka, Bratislava
Dúbravka () is a city borough of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. It is located in the north-western part of the city, lying on the slopes of the Devín Carpathians mountains. It is part of the Bratislava IV administrative district. The city borough covers 862 ha and is home to approximately 36,000 inhabitants. The borough is served by both public transport trams and buses, yet Dúbravka is known for the low level of service provided here. Dúbravka features a museum, an ancient Germanic settlement with Roman-style buildings (sometimes wrongly labeled "villa rustica"), a covered ice stadium, ŠKP Dúbravka football stadium, numerous schools, two Roman Catholic churches and an Evangelical church. Martin Dúbravka
Martin Dúbravka (born 15 January 1989) is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Newcastle United and the Slovakia national team. He is widely considered one of the best Slovakian footballers of all time. After playing in the top flights of Slovak, Danish and Czech football, Dúbravka joined English club Newcastle United in January 2018, initially on loan. He won the club's Player of the Year award in the 2019–20 season. He spent part of the 2022–23 season on loan at Manchester United, playing twice in their EFL Cup-winning campaign. Đelo Jusić (born 26 January 1939 – 31 May 2019) was a Croatian composer, arranger, conductor and guitarist. Jusić was born in Dubrovnik and began composing in the 1960s, founding the successful band Dubrovački trubaduri. His musical works drew inspiration from his native town and contributed significantly to the Mediterranean circle of Croatian popular music. Dubravka Sekulić (Serbian Cyrillic: Дубравка Секулић) is a professor, author and architect. Since 2016, she has taught at the "Institute of Contemporary Art", which is part of the Graz University of Technology in Austria. She is known for writing about privatization and its consequences on Belgrade's urban planning, stating that public space ought to be ".. a resource whose development should bring equality, not the basis for profit making". Her main field of research examines how modern cities change within the framework of spatial, legal and economic modalities. Dubravka Zubović is a retired opera singer and voice teacher in Orange County, California, United States. History Dubravka Zubović was born in Zagreb, Croatia, former SFR Yugoslavia where she began her voice studies at the age of 14, graduating from Zagreb Academy of Music with a B.A. degree. Shortly after, she became a leading mezzo of the Belgrade Opera in Belgrade, Serbia. In 1977 Zubovic graduated with an M.A. degree from the University of Belgrade, Serbia. A graduate of University of Zagreb, she was based in Amsterdam from 1996 and continued to identify as a Yugoslav writer. Early life and education Ugrešić was born on 27 March 1949 in Kutina, Yugoslavia (now Croatia). She was born into an ethnically mixed family; her mother was an ethnic Bulgarian from Varna. She majored in comparative literature and Russian language at the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Arts, pursuing parallel careers as a scholar and as a writer. Dubravka Tomšič Srebotnjak (born 7 February 1940 in Dubrovnik, Croatia, Kingdom of Yugoslavia) is a Slovenian pianist and music teacher. Early life Tomsic received private lessons at a very young age and continued with education at the Music High School in Ljubljana and later at the Slovene Academy of Music under professor Zora Zarnik. Following the advice of concert pianist Claudio Arrau, she went to the United States at age 12 and in 1957 graduated from Juilliard School of Music in New York. Her teachers were Katherine Bacon and Alexander Uninsky. Arthur Rubinstein heard her New York Town Hall recital and invited her to study with him privately in the late 1950s. Tomšič became one of Rubinstein's protégées. Career Tomsic has been teaching piano at the Slovene Academy of music in Ljubljana since 1967.
