Dunlap is an unincorporated community in Fresno County, California. It lies at an elevation of . It has a population of 131. It is located approximately east of Fresno. In the 1800s Dunlap was a rest stop for passengers of the stage coach and a location for a change of horses. St. Nicholas Ranch, a conference and retreat center run by the Greek Orthodox Church, is a major attraction. The Greek Orthodox Monastery (Convent) of the Theotokos, the Life-Giving Spring is also located there. Prior to the acquisition of the land by the ranch and the monastery, the land was known as the Sally K Ranch with two of the old ranch dwellings now being occupied by the ranch manager and assigned clergy. On the ranch property itself, there is an old barn, totally constructed of redwood, with a chapel inside (on the second floor). Dunlap is a village in Peoria County, Illinois, United States. Its population was 1,386 people as of the 2010 census. Dunlap is part of the Peoria metropolitan area and growth in the city of Peoria is extending towards the village. There are only a handful of businesses in the village's 16 blocks. Dunlap is a city in Morris County, Kansas, Morris County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the population of the city was 27. History On March 19, 1874, a post office was established in Hillsborough, Kansas. It was later reestablished on April 20 of the same year as Dunlap, Kansas. This was named after an Indian agent representing the Kanza tribe named Joseph Gage Dunlap who had founded the town in 1869 once the Kanza tribe had migrated to Oklahoma. The town grew slowly after its founding. The town really started to take off when former slave Benjamin "Pap" Singleton came to town in the spring of 1878. Dunlap is a census-designated place (CDP) in Colerain Township, Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,658 at the 2020 census. The siege of Dunlap's Station was a battle that took place near here on the Great Miami in 1791 during the Northwest Indian War. History A large part of Dunlap was originally owned by William and Asher Williamson. They sold their land in 1849 to a Mr. Parker who platted a number of lots along the Colerain Pike and Hamilton Road. In 1850, Oliver S. Glisson, an officer in the United States Navy, hired attorney Thomas S. Yeatman to lay out a subdivision south of the village on the farm of Glisson's recently deceased father. Dunlap is a city in and the county seat of Sequatchie County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 5,357 at the 2020 census and 4,815 at the 2010 census. David Dunlap Observatory
The David Dunlap Observatory (DDO) is an astronomical observatory site in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. Established in 1935, it was owned and operated by the University of Toronto until 2008. It was then acquired by the city of Richmond Hill, which provides a combination of heritage preservation, unique recreation opportunities and a celebration of the astronomical history of the site. Its primary instrument is a reflector telescope, at one time the second-largest telescope in the world, and still the largest in Canada. Several other telescopes are also located at the site, which formerly also included a small radio telescope. The telescope was driven by the vision of astronomer Clarence Chant, shared by businessman David Alexander Dunlapwhose family provided financial support after Dunlap's death in 1924.
