''Down in the Cellar'' is the fourteenth studio album by Al Stewart, released in 2000 in Europe by EMI. It was released in 2001 by Miramar in the US. It was re-released in 2007 with bonus tracks by Collectors' Choice Music. Its primary theme is that of wine, and almost all the songs on the album refer to various varieties of the alcoholic beverage, including Chardonnay and Shiraz. Al Stewart
Alastair Ian Stewart (born 5 September 1945) is a British singer-songwriter and folk-rock musician who rose to prominence as part of the British folk revival in the 1960s and 1970s. He developed a unique style of combining folk-rock songs with tales of characters and events from history. Stewart has released 16 studio and four live albums since his debut album '' Bed-Sitter Images'' in 1967, and continues to tour extensively in the US, Canada, Europe, and the UK. He is best known for his 1976 hit single " Year of the Cat", from the platinum album of the same name. Bert Jansch
Herbert Jansch (3 November 1943 – 5 October 2011) was a Scottish folk musician and founding member of the band Pentangle (band), Pentangle. He was born in Glasgow and came to prominence in London in the 1960s as an acoustic guitarist and singer-songwriter. He recorded more than 28 albums and toured extensively from the 1960s to the 21st century. Jansch was a leading figure in the 1960s British folk revival, touring folk clubs and recording several solo albums, as well as collaborating with other musicians such as John Renbourn and Anne Briggs. In 1968, he co-founded the band Pentangle, touring and recording with them until their break-up in 1972. He then took a few years' break from music, returning in the late 1970s to work on a series of projects with other musicians. Syrah
Syrah (), also known as Shiraz, is a dark-skinned grape variety grown throughout the world and used primarily to produce red wine. In 1999, Syrah was found to be the offspring of two obscure grapes from southeastern France, Dureza and Mondeuse Blanche.
