Don't (1925 Film)
''Don't'' is a 1925 American silent film, silent comedy film directed by Alfred J. Goulding, starring Sally O'Neil, John Patrick (actor), John Patrick, Bert Roach, and Ethel Wales, and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The film is one of the B pictures the studio produced to keep the Loews circuit and other cinemas supplied. The screenplay by Agnes Christine Johnston is based on the story "Don't You Care!" by Rupert Hughes. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Mr. Moffat selects Abel Totem as a prospective husband for his daughter Tracey, but the parent-defying flapper engages in a school-girl flirtation with Gilbert Jenkins which develops into a real love affair. Gilbert owns an automobile and the rebellious Tracey, dodging a family outing at an amusement park, goes riding with him. DeWitt Jennings
DeWitt Clarke Jennings (June 21, 1871 – March 1, 1937) was an American film and stage actor. He appeared in 17 Broadway plays between 1906 and 1920, and in more than 150 films between 1915 and 1937. Biography He was born in Cameron, Missouri on June 21, 1871, to Georgia S. and Oliver A. Jennings. In 1935, Jennings played Sailing Master Fryer in ''Mutiny on the Bounty'' with Clark Gable and Charles Laughton. He died in Hollywood, California on March 1, 1937. Evelyn Peirce
Evelyn PeirceSometimes misspelled as Evelyn Pierce (February 5, 1907 – August 9, 1960) was an American film actress during the silent film era, and into the 1930s. Biography Peirce was born in Del Rio, Texas, and moved to Hollywood as a professional stage dancer, and was spotted by talent scouts and encouraged to pursue an acting career in the mid-1920s. Her first role was in the 1925 film '' Excuse Me'', which was uncredited. Her first credited role was that same year in '' Don't'', which starred Sally O'Neil. She was also one of thirteen girls selected as "WAMPAS Baby Stars" in 1925, which included actress June Marlowe. Following being selected by "WAMPAS" she received a minor contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) which lasted through 1931. From 1927 through 1931, Peirce appeared in seven films, two of which were uncredited. Flappers
Flappers were a subculture of young Western women prominent after the First World War and through the 1920s who wore short skirts (knee length was considered short during that period), bobbed their hair, listened to jazz, and flaunted their disdain for prevailing codes of decent behavior. Flappers have been seen as brash for wearing excessive makeup, drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes in public, driving automobiles, treating sex in a casual manner, and otherwise flouting social and sexual norms. As automobiles became more available, flappers gained freedom of movement and privacy.
