''Diário de S. Paulo'' is a Brazilian newspaper published in the São Paulo, city of São Paulo. It was founded in 1884 and called ''Diário Popular'' until 2001. History After founding and working as director and editor of ''Correio Paulistano'' for almost twenty years, Américo de Campos joined his colleagues José Maria Lisboa and Rangel Pestana to found ''O Estado de S. Paulo, A Província de S. Paulo'' in 1875. In 1884, Campos and Lisboa were fired by the new partner of ''A Província'', João Alberto Salles, after protesting against the new editorial policy imposed by him, which was anti-Lusitanian. At the end of 1884, Campos and Lisboa founded the ''Diário Popular'' with the financial support of Antônio Bento (abolitionist), Antônio Bento, an abolitionist and owner of the ''Jornal do Commercio de São Paulo'', Hipólito Junior and Aristides Lobo. José Hawilla
José Hawilla (11 July 1943 – 25 May 2018) was a Brazilian businessman, the owner and founder of Traffic Group, a multinational sports marketing conglomerate. Hawilla was born in São José do Rio Preto to parents of Lebanese origin, in the state of São Paulo, and began his career as a sports journalist. In 1980, Hawilla founded the Traffic Group, Brazil’s largest sports marketing company. He died in a São Paulo hospital on 25 May 2018 at the age of 74 of respiratory failure. He had been ill with pulmonary hypertension, fibrosis, emphysema and throat cancer. 2015 FIFA corruption case Hawilla pleaded guilty on 12 December 2014 to "corruption charges including racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering", in connection with what has become the 2015 FIFA corruption case. Francisco de Assis Chateaubriand Bandeira de Melo (pronounced ), also nicknamed Chatô (October 4, 1892 – April 4, 1968), was a Brazilian lawyer, journalist, politician and diplomat.
